I have a 10 weeks old kitten that is scared of almost everything even his toys and he likes to scratch everything.I thought that was because he is the only pet in the house. I thought I should bring another cat and I'm confused Should I get him a male like a brother or female?

At 10 weeks old your kitten is still very young. It probably doesn't have anything to do with being the only pet but more just that everything around your kitten is big in comparison. This can be very overwhelming for him. Try limiting the amount of rooms this kitten has access to and give him a quieter environment. Once he becomes accustom to the smaller area then start giving him more of the house to explore.

Remember to comfort your kitty and hold it too.

Good luck

just leave him be for now. he is in a new enviroment so yes he is scared. when he is ready he will come to you. talk to him in a calm voice and offer food but don't push him.
I would not get a another cat just yet. wait a few weeks then get one about his age. I would get another male if that is what you have.
I have 2 females same age different litters that have bonded big time. when they are young they will bond better, then say bring an older cat in. good luck with this one. as of scratching get a post and put the cat by it or by where he is scratching. also get a something soft that the cat can lay on so they have a secure place to sleep. Praise it often and pet them(brush). they will be your friend for life. if you don't have health insurance I would get it. you have exams, neutering, vaccinations to pay for. this will help for any expense. below you will find some websites that will help. Good Luck!!

Get your kitty a scratching post. Also make him a comfortable nest, someplace where he can "cave" and hide when he is scared. Cats like to feel like they can retreat to a safe place when things are stressful, and your kitten is probably a little overwhelmed by all the changes going on in his life. Also, don't chase him around and pester him. Let him come to you when he feels like letting you pet him and play with him. He will eventually be confident.

You may have to teach him the word "no," so that he doesn't scratch furniture. Sometimes you can use a squirt bottle to squirt when you say "no." He will learn that "no" means stop scratching the couch. Also, rub the scratching post with catnip and praise him when he uses it. He'll learn.

And while he might be lonely, I wouldn't suggest a second kitty right now. Let him get comfortable. Eventually a playmate might be a good idea, but you want this kitty to learn good habits first. Then it'll be easier to teach the new one good habits as well. When you feel the time is right to add another kitty, do a google search on how to introduce new cats to a household. It takes time to do it properly.

I'm a firm believer in getting 2 kittens, rather than one. They form a life-long bond when introduced to eachother when they are young. They play and interact, which teaches them social skills, as well as keeping them occupied when you're not home. I'll bet another kitten will bring him out of his shell. I personally have had male and female cats/kittens my whole life, and it seems two males get along and stay buddies more than females do.

I recently got 2 male kittens, and its prbably the best thing ive ever done, Ive never had kittens before but my friend got one last yr and he's very timid, my 2 kittens are both male and brothers but as long as you get them young they will bond, they play for hours on end, sleep together and eat together. two kittens are diffinately better than one, I would say get him a brother roughly the same age to play with. you wont regret it and it really isnt all that much expensive than one! :-) good luck either way! x

sounds like the little buddy is just getting used to his new home. getting another kitten might help him out and make him feel more secure, but it also might do the opposite and cause a territorial dispute between the two cats. especially if they're both male. but like i said, they might just become best friends and be perfectly happy.
if you don't really want to get another kitten, i would give him more time and see if he calms down over time..... most cats do.

10 weeks is still pretty young, it will take awhile for the cat to get comfortable, as far as the scratching goes, i would get a scratch post or a house for the cat, that helped when mine were scratching.

it's still pretty young, give it some time, be gentle with it.. just dont grab him, he'll lose your trust, pet him and spend alot of time with him, he should do better in a week or so..
