When we were children growing up our Uncle used to take us down to our grand-parents(no freeways all secondary roads) he would see a small hill coming up and he would speed up and it would tickle our tummies ,we'd laugh and tell him to do it again.Does anyone have fond memories when times were simpler?

Oh yeah, things were so much better in some ways back then. I can still remember getting excited when we'd just get in the car and go for a drive in the country (not that we were city dwellers or anything, but just a drive along some of the back roads along the mountains and farmland that we didn't usually travel). We'd just enjoy the clouds in the sky, counting the different kinds of animals, wave to the farmers, that kind of thing. Boy, you can't do that anymore with gas prices so high.
And I also remember just being able to be outside without having a parent right on top of you--I'm afraid to let my kids outside without either my husband or me there, for fear of someone abducting them or something. When I was a kid, we'd go outside either alone or with friends and ride our bikes, play in each other's yards, go to the pond near our house and catch frogs, whatever. Again, that's just something that doesn't happen for kids these days, at least not where I live now.
Boy, could I go on... Maybe I'll post my own question... :)

I remember my cousins and I going with our parents to picnics at the local park. It was only about 5 minutes walk from our house, but the family and our neighbours would pack the food, and spend the whole day there.
All it cost our parents was the food we would normally have had for lunch, and the kids were all out in the fresh air, running around.....not sat in front of the tv all day! We'd play on the playground, have cricket or baseball games, and the parents would even play WITH us, lol. A whole day's entertainment for nothing, and we were always excited about going!
I just think of the looks on some children's faces if you suggested that now......they'd probably want to know where they could plug in the Playstation!

Yes...those days were fun.....I remember playing outside all day during the summer....we played kick the can and flashlight tag and built forts. A fond memory I have is when my sisters and I used to spend days putting together a play. I had a canopy bed in my room and we would hang sheets to the canopy and make a curtain. Then we would make costumes from what we had at home. We then would invite my parents up to my room so they could see our show. Back then, life was simpler and we used our creativity and thought to come up with ideas to spend our time.

I recall as a teenager I would have my brothers & sister in the car, we'd drive to this one road ( on the outskirts of the city ), this road had three small hilly spots, one right after the other, and my siblings loved it. We'd drive back & forth over & over that road. We all laughed & had a blast. Then there were times when we all went to the drive-in movies. Of course there are no more of them around here any more. How the simple things in life means soooo much!!!

I remember playing in the huge corn field behind our house from early morning until dusk. We had so much fun hiding, running and just being kids without the fear of child molesters/murders that there is today. Yes life was so much simpler then.

Thanks for bringing back the memory

Oh my! You made think back to when I was a young girl. My dad used to take us to our Uncles a 1/2 hours away and there were dips in the road nad he'd speed up a bit just so we could get a bit of a thrill going over the dips. He used to call them dippsy doodles! LOL
We would giggle and just laugh for more!

Watching my son grow over the years, watching his actions and comments reminds me of when I was young. I remember rolling down hills sideways, and running with such exhilaration. Everything was so fun then, no bills, no rent, no worrying about groceries.

Yes.

Kids weren't bored since Disneyland and McDonald's had not been invented yet.
