Matthew 15:19: - For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.
Its right up there with all the other mortal sins.

It is not really adultery that god had a kid with Joseph's wife, if that is what you mean. If I could think of any possible reason why this is so, I would tell you, but for right now please just take it on faith.

Everyone knows it's wrong.
What is not taught by most Protestant churches is that it is not an easily forgiven sin. That's why it rampant.
They are misled to believe all they have to do is ask for forgiveness, and they shall receive.
It's not that easy on very serious sins like murder and adultery.

Technically speaking he is against it.
But look in the Old Testament and the part with the Ten Commandments. Their definition of adultery is not the one we use. It basically says that men can fool around as long as it is not with someone else's wife or someone's virgin daughter. Married women can't fool around without risking the death penalty.
It is definitely not how we define it.

Thou shalt not commit Adultery, thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife.
Meaning: you should not take another man wife or be jealous of another man because you want his wife.
