1. There are thousands of companies making computers that run Windows. There is one company making the Mac. Due to competition, you get a lot more bang for the buck when you buy a PC.
2. The purpose of an operating system is to run software. If you run Windows, you usually have a choice of many programs in any given category, and due to competition, there will be one or more great programs. If you run Mac, you typically have one to three programs in any given category, and they may or may not be satisfactory.
3. PCs are designed so that parts can be replaced and upgraded. I still use a computer that has had numerous upgrades since the 1980s. Every part - even the cord that runs to the AC outlet - has been replaced at least once, and due to changes in chips and motherboard, it's now running 250 times as fast. Macs were designed to be toasters. You don't upgrade a toaster, you throw it out and get a different one. That's OK when you're toasting bread, which hasn't had a basic change since they started slicing it a century ago. Computer technology, though, changes dramatically every three years.
4. No self-respecting homophobe would consider laying his hands on a Mac, the favorite computer of Bravo fans.
5. Apple has a track record of diddling their users. They designed the iPod so you couldn't replace the battery when it no longer would take a charge. They've designed the iPhone the same way. If you bring in a Mac to be fixed, they tell you to go back home, and go online to make an appointment - except that if your Mac needs fixed, you may not be able to go online to make an appointment. Oh, well, it's six months old, anyway. Trash it, and buy a new one.
There are a lot of idiots in the US. After all, Dubya came pretty close to getting half the votes, both time he ran. But apparently, there aren't as many as there used to be. In 1983, there were about as many Apple computers being sold as IBM PCs. These days, Apple's market share is about 5%. They aren't even getting half the *gay* market.
If I was more concerned about looking good, and less concerned with getting work done, I certainly would consider a Mac. They're darned pretty. But I have a wonderful wife who is both a knockout *and* incredibly good at what she does. When Apple makes a knockout computer that's good at what it does, at a competitive price, I'll buy it. Not before.

Mac is easier to use then Windows, it has less virus' etc... it is better then Windows in every way except for compatability. This has only arised from the fact the Windows owns most of the market share. That's just to clear up what some of the earlier posts said about Apples OS being harder to use. THEIR WHOLE MARKETING PLAN IS BASED ON THEM BEING EASIER TO USE!!!
Why is windows more popular. Because they sell their OS to everyone and anything that goes by the name of a computer. Apple on the other hand only sells their OS for thier apple computers and nobody else. This mixed in with the fact that they belong to high price range means people that want a basic PC won't usually want to buy one. Why does everyone keep using windows? IF you were a business would you switch to an OS that no else used? Business' spend money making those companies bigger. In turn consumers don't want to buy from small companies as they may not be as reliable and their service tends to be worse.
Not because Windows is easier to use. Unless we're comparing it to Linux/

Because of mass marketing, and deals to include MS as the operating system. MAC's are also more expensive you cannot pick one up for 3-$500 bucks as you can with MS. The growing challenge to MS is Linux, a very simple and no cost operating system that is gaining in popularity. Although I have been an MS fan since the days of 3.0 I do see the added security of a MAC operating system, as my son is a MAC fan, and would get one it the prices where compatible to a computer with the MS format. I do have an old Dell laptop that we switched to Linux and am very impressed with the ease and safety of it, and it uses very little memory, where as MS is a memory hog. People have built a familiarity with windows through the years, and change is hard for many

I think because windows is more compatible with software and a mac isnt thats why and if you ask me macs do suck windows is the best. the only ones i like are windows 2000 and xp those are the best ones but if you plan to buy vista wait for a little bit so they work out all of the kinks or until the service pack 1 comes out.if you really want something good get windows xp its the best operating system out but vista will catch up.

windows can be installed on any machine while the macs are produced in apple factories so you see anyone, I mean dell, hp, acer can build a machine and they can count on windows to run their machines with win.. But if you are searching for an advanced OS its mac, has no blue screens and never get stuck in the middle of something. Unfortunately got less progs in the market supports it but still mac got all the things inside pre installed so that i can start right a head.

I am thinking it is because PC and Windows related things are cheaper therefore more people have them therefore businesses and such use them to relate to the general public.
However, places that do graphics and stuff usually have a MAC because it is better with that sort of thing.
