India does not have a War Memmorial.Only Memmorial we have is India Gate which was built by Britisher's.We keep on building expressways, stylish offices..but we havent even built a War Memmorial for our brave soldier's.It is a shame.60 years have gone by,when will we give the due respect for our soldier's?
Did you remembered those soldier's on the 8 th anniversary last week. The media also didnt give much importance except some half hour programmes. The Government also didnt do much in celebrating the victory.
Those 527 soldiers gave up their life for everyone of us.Dont you think they deserve more...

The answer is a pure and simple no. To prove my point lemme counter question you .. can you name all the soldiers who have been awarded the param vir chakra in India. And the issue is not with the Indian people but with the indian education system and its politicians. No where in the indian education system do we find a chapter on our soldiers who have laid down the lives for our country.
And as for our politicians what can we say about them they shower all kind of awards and praise on the soldiers when the issue is hot .. bestowing their family with partol pumps and erecting their statues but a few year down the line ask any one of these politicians they would not recall the name of a single soldier.
What more proof can i give other than the fact that in todays india there is not a single politician whose child has served in the parliament.

I honestly think that you have raised a vital point that most of the Indians today who enjoy their freedom dint seem to realise the sacrifices that is given by our armed forces in the security of our country.

Well to answer this question lets just have a reality check.
Do you think an MLA's son or daughter or a Minister;s son or daughter ever joined the armed forces? Well if that ever happened i can bet a million rupees that things would be quite different in the media.

Its always the poor, hungry and the wretched who have sacrificed things for our nation.

Surprisingly havent been over run by a military government ever since the dawn of our freedom and it does amaze me to a certain point.

God and Soldier are remembered in times of dire need, and the hour of need over, both alike are forgotten! Not only in India, almost the world over, everywhere, almost! We need to remember the retired military personnel among us, too, who gave of their best years to the service, serving the country silently and industriously, with always 'duty first' commendable, exemplary attitude!
