What causes the difference in color? Either one healthier than the other?

Egg shell color is caused by pigment deposition during egg formation in the oviduct and can vary according to breed, from the more common white or brown to pink or speckled blue-green. Although there is no significant link between shell color and nutritional value, there is often a cultural preference for one color over another. For example, in most regions of the United States, eggs are generally white; while in the northeast of that country and in the United Kingdom, eggs are generally light-brown. In Brazil, white eggs are generally regarded as industrial, and brown or reddish eggs are preferred. Regarding chicken eggs, the color of the egg depends on the color of the bird. According to the Egg Nutrition Center, hens with white feathers and earlobes will lay white eggs, and chickens with red feathers and earlobes will lay brownish eggs.

There is no difference whatsoever in the content of the eggs and I defy anyone to eat one from a batch and tell you the colour of the shell. There is an old fallacy that brown eggs are better for you but the fact is that they are made that colour artificially by additives in the chicken's feedstuffs. Remember that eggs were not designed to be eaten. They are meant for procreation so the hen doesn't really care what colour the shell is. Shell colours evolved over thousands of years for a variety of reasons, mainly to be inconspicuous to predators so the shell colour would normally match it's surroundings as camouflage.

one is white and one is brown that is it. What you need to know about is what is inside the egg. Did you know one whole egg equal's your daily amount of allowed cholestrol. So what I do is if I eat eggs I usually just eat the egg whites because the cholestrol is in the yoke and not in the egg whites.
