I'm trying to build an entertainment unit out of a beer crate. check out the picture link to get a full idea. this will be a portable unit. i know i can power a car head unit through the power supply of a computer, however i want to make this portable as well so to work without being connected to a power outlet. I'll fit a Gel Cel battery however i'm wondering how i can have the Gel Cel batery charged by the PC power supply.

To charge the gel cell u need to get the specs on the cell.
Assuming 12v, the max u want the charger to provide is about 14.5 to 15v.

the charger should be current limited so the cell won't fry it by demanding too much current.

the current capability of the charger will determine how fast it charges. Too fast a charge is not good. Too slow will aggravate u. U may want to opt for a cheap charger instead of the pc supply.
