I have a one year old male Persian, a very nice looking cat and also a nice temperement. How would I go about finding him a mate?

I do not want another cat I'd just like to keep his line going, I'd probably give away the kittens to the owner of the female. I'm in New York btw.

Persian breeders only want pedigreed kittens, you didn't say if you had a pedigree on him.

Just breeding for the sense of breeding won't insure his line, the kittens could all be fixed within months, ending any 'line'. If you didn't want to start your own breeding line, it wouldn't make sense that anyone else would find that a reason to continue the line for you.

There are tons of nice looking wonderful cats. Don't add to the cat overpopulation problem. It takes away from the available homes for those who are waiting to be adopted.

You might be breaking the law if you breed from him as you have probably signed a pet contract with his breeder. If you did mate him to another Persian the kittens would just be non-pedigrees so you wouldn't be able to ask for money for them as without breeding rights on the male the registeries would refuse to register the kittens so you would get no pedigree. The breeder who bred him will have their own plan to preserve and develop their lines so do not worry about that.

Not a good idea to look for a cat girlfriend if you don't want the kittens...Free kittens often are not valued and can become homeless....Also your male may start to spray if bred.
