I have often pondered that. Humans have varying interpretations of God and no one can seem to agree what God really is.

People point to the bible as a source, but I think of it as a folklore because of the game of Telephone. You played it as a child.

Put children in a circle, whisper a story in one child's ear, then pass it on. In the end the story is always different.

That is why the bible has morphed from one version to another. For centuries it wasn't even written down. Can you imagine how much change happened in story tellers heads?

That is why I believe in one thing, the GOLDEN RULE, the rest is smoke and mirrors.

Yes I know, as a non believer, I will go to hell. Yet the basis of all religions is the GOLDEN RULE and that trumps all.

Peace

Jim

I'd say God is more then a he or a she.

I'd say it is everything I see, touch, imagine and can't see. Much bigger then what is written.

The Lord's Mercy

In a recent study in China, it was found that 1 in 3 consider themselves religious. Most of those are Buddhists.

I'd say I am in good company under the positive accepting nature of them.

Peace

You're right. The Bible has so many interpretations that the original text seemed to be lost along the way. Some have been deleted, others added to support a religion's theory or belief. But isn't it written at the end of each bible that whomsoever adds or takes away passages in the Scriptures is accountable to God?

The Golden Rule is fine. It serves as a guiding principle for everyone - how to treat and/or interact with other human beings and how you expect others to do the same to you. However, it doesn't mention God. It doesn't teach us how to worship or pay homage to a God who created all of us. The Rule is basically a general rule, no coherent description of how our lives is connected to a great Spiritual Being and how it should be lived according to God's desire.

Anyway, it is your idea of how you live your life, by obeying the Golden Rule and that is better than having nothing to guide you to be a peaceful and caring person.

Peace, too.

If you know you would go to hell why in the world would you not accept Jesus as Lord. You do not have to do anything but receive him and ask him to come into your heart. Then he will do the rest for you. He our Savior. Just accept that. God is not on his throne to pound on us for every thing we do wrong. He loves us and wants us to be with him someday. We are never promised tomorrow. God truly is there for you just accept it. Take care

Jim,
You are so much more than Just Plain...
God is real, God knew you before you were born and He sent Jesus to earth to die on the cross for your sins.
I know this 100%. I hope someday that you will have the same wisdom, knowledge and love that I have been blessed with. (I am really really far from all-knowing, but I keep studying and learning...I do know God!)

You have written 'Yes I know, as a non believer, I will go to hell.'
It reveals, you believe in the existence of hell !
In that case how you can be a non believer!
Who created hell? Was that created or not ?
Please be logical, use intelligence and keep brain open to accept those which you find logical beyond doubt.
I pray for you.

When you have faith and have actually experienced His word made alive in your heart and life, then there is no question who or what God is. He is full of mercy and love but like any good father, he expects you to follow the teachings of his son.

You can only go to hell if you believe there to be one...

There is no hell in my world...

Wouldn't it be nice if more people followed the Golden Rule...

God is really God. But most people prefers to make their concept of Him to fit their lifestyles. They would rather have a "user-friendly" god.

If you don't belive in god then you can move to China and live with your godless and wretched atheist friends. I pray that you will find the Lord's salvation while your soul can yet be saved

Is God God? What kind of question is that? Believe what you want. God gave you that choice. You say you have chosen to go to hell, so never say you were not warned or that God isn't fair. You make your own choices for your soul...
