I would say that depends on what kind of Muslim you are.
If you're the sort of Muslim that feels all "infidels" should be forced to accept Islam or be put to death, then wear the shoe that fits.
If you're the sort of Muslim that believes that your relationship with Allah is your relationship with Allah, and anyone who is meant to find Allah will find him through Allah's will, then you should either quietly and humbly explain that the Islamist terrorists are as abhorrent to you as they are to the person making the accusation, or you can bring up all the Christians who bomb abortion clinics and murder doctors.
Either way.

EDIT:
Inat... all terrorists are Muslim?
What about the Irish Republican Army terrorists?
What about the Christian terrorists who bomb abortion clinics?
You might be closer to truth by saying MOST terrorists are Muslims... but not all.

Ingrid Mattson, a professor of Islamic Studies from Hartford Seminary, told a CNN reporter [7] when asked about Wahhabism, that,
“ This is not a sect. It is the name of a reform movement that began 200 years ago to rid Islamic societies of cultural practices and rigid interpretation that had (been) acquired over the centuries. Because the Wahhabi scholars became integrated into the Saudi state, there has been some difficulty keeping that particular interpretation of religion from being enforced too broadly on the population as a whole. However, the Saudi scholars who are Wahhabi have denounced terrorism (killing innocents) and denounced in particular the acts of September 11.

Apparently Wahhabi scholars have denounced terrorism. How about the rest of the sect.

What is needed is more education about Islam and it's sects.

About taking up for yourself when people calls you a terrorist, they are ignorant and what can you do? You either deny it, ignore it or get into a fight...which does no good. Ignoring it would probably work best.

Through the eyes of the world, every time someone says or even think of the word terrorist or terrorism, they link it to either to the Islamic World, Middle East, or disiples of Muhammad. I've been taught to treat people the way I want to be treated, but I also learned to never accuse people until proven guilty. I've been friends with a few Muslims and I consider them as Americans but I also respect their practices. Anyway, that's besides the point. Before and even after September 11, they, and I mean some people, have always considered those who orginated from the Middle East as terrorists. Those people are quick to jump the gun and want to distant themselves from them. Those people must realize that people do not have a record of those who are terrorists or those who will become terrorists. I, for one, may not be able to change the opinons of those with that type of mentality, but I will continue to treat people as equals of all religion, color, or origin. People can not be judged so easily just because they look or practice under a different religion for it is better to judge them by the actions they take. I mean how can they blame Muslims for what's happening over 12 time zones away? It's crazy! I'm going to close out with a phrase from Benjamin Franklin. It may not be exactly what he said but it's still under the same spirit, "It is better for people to think that you are a fool rather than for you to open your mouth and prove it."

People seldom pay attention to words alone. They must be coupled with action to be credible. Start a blog and let the world know where you stand. In today's world it takes great courage for a Muslim to speak out against terrorism because of the fear of retribution. If you put your words into action you will have proof of your sincerity. Non-Muslims want to be friendly to those who are non-violent, but we too have legitimate fears. We do not want to profile others, and we do not embrace paranoia, but necessity requires these things for now. Eli

Well i dont see why other Muslim would call you names, like what? and why? If ignorant people want to call you a terrorist ask them to prove it or shut up simple as that. I am a Muslim and the only people who suggest i am a terrorist are people here, no one in person has ever called me one.

I have received so many emails saying the same thing. I always reply nice and many Even reply and say sorry for assuming things about Muslims. I think the best way we can handle this is by example. Be nice to them and just explain that this is why we all need to push for education. I am sure Muslims all have things which they assume no one is perfect.

Muslims are tired of the Christian rant.

Time to stop apologizing.

Christians classify 1.5 billion Muslims based on the actions of .0001% of followers who are criminals.

Why dont we classify all Christians based on the actions of their criminals ?

They only want an oppurtunity to bash on Islam...... if they dont find loose canon Muslims to commit terror then they will orchestrate it themselves to keep the image of Islam damaged.

Watch out for the deception.

Reply with gentleness and even gratitude, for any suffering you endure at the hands of those inconsiderate individuals adds to your reward.

Allah is with the ones who show patience and persevere.

Describe first what terrorism is. What does Islam has to do with it? This is not an Islamic language (there are approximately 40000 ethnic groups in only Islamic world).
