Religion will no longer be a major war issue when all the religions finally decide to remove the five heinous sins from within their midst. These five are: Intoxication, craving, theft, murder, and falsehood.
If these five are driven out then the six evils must be cast out, and these are: lust, anger, miserliness, attachment, bigotry, and envy.
This no doubt is monumental task! Is it not so?
Thus it might be many years before religion will not be the culprit involved in what man calls, "War".

If humanity as a whole does not choose the way of love, peace and unity then there will only be fear, war and division. By choosing one religion over the other you have chosen the later, by choosing one nation, ideology, race or whatever over the other you have chosen the later.

Well first the Warlords would need to find a better scapegoat to justify their ways. Religion has always been a good excuse. And as long as it can lead people away from God it is the best excuse to use for those that deceive many.

When respective religions stop believing in the End Of The World by The Book (their book).
It's that Us Vs Them thing that they get off on, mixed up with the prophetic DAMNATION!
Until those type of religions wane, then expect them to make their prophecies come 'true'.

When humans are able to admit they went to war over power, resources, territory, owned by someone else, without dredging up religion as an excuse.

Is it now ? I'm all for freedom of religion, but I feel this ends when someone would kill you because you don't read their version of the Bible.

Never. As long as people have religion, they think they have a reason to invade and kill for their "higher" calling.
