why didn't boone and other pioneers starve in a wilderness with no restaurants?

I'm sure they were skilled in ways to live off the land. There were fruits, berries, fish in the streams, and game to hunt. They also could carry food that would keep for a long time, such as beef jerky, dry beans, and flour.

Because they ate what was on hand, Bison, Deer, Rabbit, Goose, Duck, Turkey and Fish

Considering the fact they had no refrigeration the food storage probably was not health as they would use lots of salt for preservation.....

Of course he ate healthy...he ate off the land. You think Walt Disney would have made a film about him if he was a fast food junkie. I think not.

A side benefit to having all those coonskin caps....they survived on racoon meat.
