Since moving here. I noticed that the majority of people born and raised in Texas are rather stupid. My kids who are all in school are the youngest in their grades. Why is it that the education system is so lacking in this state?

I was born and raised in Texas and I am not stupid. I am in college and I have a 3.89 GPA. I was one of the lucky ones that was educated in a wonderful school district with knowledgeable, competent teachers that cared about the learning process. And it was also back in the day when teachers were allowed to do their jobs and didn't have to cater to pushy, overbearing parents that get pissed off when their child gets a failing grade.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's wonderful that your kids are ahead of the system. It could be just the area that you are in is lacking to other areas. I am in that situation now. The area that I am in currently has crappy schools that teach nothing. My daughter is 2, before she turns 5 we will be moving back to where I attended school so that she has a better education.

As for our current lack in education, ask our "wonderful" governor about that.

Perhaps it's not the entire state. Perhaps it is just relative between where you left and where you are now.

Maybe its the spanish speaking illegal immigrants.

Maybe it's George Bush's fault.

I think the most likely reason is parental involvement, or lack thereof. Perhaps you should do something about it.
