it's true that Jesus (peace to him) try to show an example of forgiviness, but do you want to know the secret behind it of why he may did this?
according to Islam. on the day of judgement when everyone is struggle on that day for all the sins he/she gains. on that day everyone will say myself and myself.
on that hard day of day of judgement, God will bring all those who been treated you unfairly (beat you unfairly, insult you unfairly, harmed you unfairly....etc) and will give you the permission to take some of their good points to yours for how much they were unfair to you. and if that person who was unfair to you have no good points to give it to you, then God will take away some of your sins and put it on that person.
so if someone slaped you in the face unfairly, you have guarantee his/her good points, so when you give him/her your other cheecks, you have guarantee double reward. so forgive as much as you can.

Hello,
No Jesus was implying that you should control your temper and try killing people with kindness. Reacting by turning the other cheek would make them feel dumbfounded.
That was the jist of part of his teaching. He went on to say that if occupying forces (Romans) ask you to carry their equipment one mile, then carry it for ten. If you use the sword you'll die by it.
I think Jesus knew that by getting angry and taking revenge you start a cycle of violence and tit for tat that will never end.
Many did not heed his words and we all saw what happened 30 years after he left earth when the Jewish people slapped the Romans' faces instead of turning the other cheek.
And It is still on going there - a suicide bomber hits a coffeee shop in Tel Aviv, a block in Gaza gets wiped out by a gunship, rockets into Isreal, air strikes pay back in full etc.
Cheers,

When you take it on the cheek, sometimes if you pray with others for a change in that person it will come and sometimes you will be rewarded, if God meant for that to happen in your life. But this idea of eternal reward is bogus. We all agreed to our roller coaster rides here. The best we can hope for, and this is pretty good, is that in heaven we all get to take a ride on each others life and then we get "it"! Pretty neat, eh?
But if you can persuade others to stop the cheek slapping through Forgive Affirmed Spirit, your life here will become more heavenly and theirs too!

Muslims (and Islam) say Jesus was a prophet but they reject all His teachings ....that is hypocrisy.
They reject Christ's diety;
they deny his claim to be the Son of God;
they deny his death on the cross...
they deny His resurrection..
They deny Jesus is the Christ/ Messiah...
In fact, the Quran says : "Allah has no son".
Need I say more...?
Don't be deceived. The Islamic god is totally different than the God of Jesus Christ.
The Bible calls Muhammed and those like him false prophets:
"Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is anti-Christ, that denies the Father and the Son. He that denies the Son, the same has not the Father." (I John 2:22)

this is insanity. you will be judge solely on your own sins and your sins alone. you cannot gain points from a murderer if he cusses at you one day. the same murderer cannot gain points because someone stole his shoes as a child. you are responsible for yourself and yourself alone totally and completely.
what jesus means is if someone does you wrong, doing him wrong also does not make things right. so it does no one anygood to get into a tit for tat. instead forgive him if he asks and tolerate them. even when jesus was hanging on the cross, he asked god to forgive them for they know not what they do.

Jesus did not say to give your other cheeks as you put it He said to TURN your other cheek . He was referring to forgiveness.He was saying that when someone does something to offend us we are to turn our other cheek be merciful to that person and forgive them and treat them and act toward them just as if they didn't do anything against us at all. In other words be to them as Christ is to us .He doesn't hold our past against us(I John 1:9) so we shouldn't hold anyones past against them. Hope that helped God Bless.

Actually,Jesus was Hispanic, and what he said was "give us your other chicks." He often preached to his homies in the hood, and of course he was dead set against domestic violence.By directing the brothers to release the women they kept in sexual servitude, he was setting the example for female equality the world over Too bad no religion honored his example.

Yes, if you turn the other cheek, then this suppresses their aggressions.
If you retaliate, then the situation always escalates.
