1) NO puppy food of ANY kind not even large breed (they are a giant breed not large) for a Dane puppy..the protein levels are too high as are the calcium levels.
2) feeding amounts depend on what you feed...quality of food etc
3) stay away from any foods taht contain soy..soy causes excess gas which is something you do NOT want in a breed that can be prone to bloat
4) make sure the food you feed has a protein level of no more then 24%.
I have had Danes for over 25 years. I have had both rescues and from breeders and I also show and do therapy work with my Danes.
I currently feed my 3 Canidae All Life Stages..my 13 month old show boy gets 4 cups dry (2 in am, 2 in pm) plus 1 can of wet(1/2 am, 1/2pm)..my 5 year old girl also gets 4 cups, my 12 month old rescue gets 5 cups dry (2 in am, 3 in pm) plus 1 can wet (1/2 am, 1/2 pm). I also add @ 3tbs yogurt to the food once they get to be 6-7 months old and I give vit C right from 8 weeks old on.
Do NOT free feed your Dane!!!
Make sure you get your puppy from a responsible breeder taht does genetic health testing (and can provide copies), researches pedigrees, carefully mates all their dogs..breeds for the entire package....breed standard, health, temperament, longevity.
A very good book with honest straight forwrd info is The Great Dane, Model of Nobility by Jill Swedlow. It is packed with great, correct, knowledgable info on all aspects of Danes and their care..it is the best and most correct Dane book I've seen out there. I highly recommend it for any Dane lover's library.

A couple of great answers there.
I feed my guys a raw based diet. They are full grown now. They get about 3 pounds a day as adults. Puppies very as they go through growth spurts. You want to keep a puppy on the lean side. You should see the last two ribs always. If you can't you are feeding to much, if you see all the ribs you are not feeding enough. It will fluctuate so then should the amount you feed.
And I agree with Dane Lover, Jill offers her book free as a download from her website. Google 'Suntrike Danes.' A must have for first time Dane owners.
Good luck

Great Danes Get Really Hungry So I Suggest Getting An Automatic Dog Feeder That Way He Or She Can Eat Anytime It Wants To When It's An Adult. When It's A Puppy Feed It A Cup Of Dry And A Pouch Of Wet Food.Stir It Well.If It Don't Eat Much The First Time It's Okay. The Dog Just Has To Get Used To Its New Home. Then It Will Catch On.ByThe Way Congratulations To The New Addition To The Family!!!!! PS Eukanuba Dog Food And Beniful Is Good To Feed The Dog.

Ask the responsible breeder or rescue you'll be getting your pup from. They should be able to tell you what quality dog food your pup has been eating and what they recommend.
For kibble foods I like Wellness, Canidae and Innova (EVO) but the last is probably not appropriate for a growing giant breed pup (too much protein.) You also need to know about bloat as its a very common problem in Great Danes. Finally, SERIOUSLY consider giving your new pup a raw diet, this can help them grow up appropriately and live healthy long lives.
