Used to be just southern fried and cooked to death. Now we have the local Mexican flavor, not Tex-Mex. Just about everyone here grows a garden every spring. There is nothing to compare with a juicy homegrown, vine ripened tomato. We eat lots of purple hull peas, okra, potatoes, fish, watermelon, corn on the cob, squash and of course it is all cooked to death. I guess that's just southern cooking.
Dirty rice is one of my favorites.

I am from Malaysia, a country in South East Asia. We have a very diverse population, with the majority being the Malays, Chinese and Indians. This is reflected in our very diverse cuisine. The local cuisine can be generally categorised according to race, then again according to the state (area). You must really visit the country and taste the food to know what authentic Malaysian cuisine is like. One simple example is the 'laksa'. It is a noodle dish whereby the noodle (some uses rice vermicilli) is served in curry soup and an assortment of side dishes. The curry varies, some use more coconut milk, some with dried prawn paste, some even use fish to cook the soup. The accompanying dishes also vary, some use cucumber strips, some use bean sprouts, and so on. All the describing is making me hungry. :)

We are surrounded by culture in our area. This used to be a predominately Dutch community but it has grown into a very good sized spanish, oriental, heinz 57American, and good old country area. You can find just about any type of cuisine and recipe around here with any number of flavors and spice variations too. We have steak houses and Chinese and Japanese restaurants. We have all you can eat smorgesboards to elegant candle light dinners on the waterfront. We have boardwalk cafe's to fast food restaurants. You name it, you can find it here to eat. Some dining comes with piped in music and some comes with live bands. You can even find a karoke atmosphere. Some restaurants are only open for breakfast and lunch and some for lunch and dinner. Some are open all day and serve all three meals and some are open a full 24 hours and you can get any meal you want any time of the day or night. Take your pick. You won't have to travel far to get a good meal around here.

I adore Cajun/Creole cuisine! Especially dirty rice and my favorite...crawfish etouffee. I do make a mean roux...my friend, who was born and raised in Louisianna taught me! :)

I live in Texas, and the two main types of cuisne here are Tex-Mex and traditional Texas food such as chicken fried steak, barbecued brisket, and Texas chili.

I am from Aussie! We have a really different taste still as well. I have been able to say though I am mildly obsessed with vegemite and weet bix. I used to love MILO which is an awesome dessert, which I can't eat anymore because I am a vegan. I also used to eat grubs and other bugs... as weird as that may sound to some people, but they are really good.
