Have you ever realized that by asking somebody out on a date, you're essentially just telling them that you want to have sex with them? The sex might not happen if you don't end up liking eachother, but that is the point of the whole process. Especially if you don't know the girl/guy well. In that case it's even truer. "I don't really know if I like you, but you definitely look good enough to have sex with."

I don't know, my friends and I really get a kick out of thinking about that.

You worded it wrong initially...when you ask someone out you're not telling them you want to have sex with them (unless you already know them well and know that you do)...what you're telling them is that you'd like to get to know them better so you can evaluate if you'd like to have sex with them.

When I express interest in a guy, I may be curious about sex with him, but until I get to know him a bit I won't know if I want to have sex with him (eventually). Often the first date will give me enough information to know if I'd be interested in him sexually, whether or not I'm interested in him in any other capacity.

And your subject line has what to do with your post?

Maybe so...that could be true in some aspect. Actually when your asking someone out and they accept that there is a physical attraction, obviously it will lead to sex.

Who came up with that rule.......? No one has to have sex on a first, second, or third date. Who ever made this rule should be shot. If someone wants you just for sex....he aint worth wanting to have around.
