What kind of home remedy can I use to put in my dogs' food to keep them from eating their poop? I've seen the stuff that they sell at the clinics and in the pet catalogs, but that stuff is way too expensive for me to feed to 4 dogs! I've got 2 that I can't stop from eating poop and it disgusts me. Any ideas of some kind of concoction I can sprinkle of their food?

What your dogs have is a behavirol problem called coprophagy. In addition to using bitter apple and keeping the areas clean; you could try sprinkling or mixing their food with MSG or getting a product called "Bid-4" through your veterinarian. Be sure to check with your vet first to see if is okay for your dogs to have either product.

Give them more meat in their diet.

Apparently does no harm, except to our ability to enjoy their kisses. Dogs eat poop to get the protein from it ( which is apparently high enough to make it worth their while :P).

If that doesn't work, I'd just avoid watching if they start looking interested at something on the ground.

Put a product called "Bitter Apple" (at pet stores) on the poop (or anything else you don't want a dog to chew).

It makes it taste bad (vinegary) and they will eventually get the idea that all of it is not worth tasting.

That happened to one of our dogs before and it's usually because they're hungrey or is not getting enough food. So maybe trying to add some more food to their diet or try another brand of dog food you know he/she enjoys
Hope That Helps

I have always heard they are lacking something in their diet. Change the brand of dog food you are using. This happened to my son's dog, changed the brand, and he stopped.

Use them to make a part time business of cleaning dog doo from other people's yards. Just don't let them kiss you, oh well, I guess that would also be your business not mine.
