Sorry to be so exclusive (No offense meant if you're not Christian!) it's quite a specific question though...

I've found through my Christian life that yeah - although the positives have definately outweighed the negatives (I've gained SO much through being a Christian, and would pray that I never give up), I've also lost some quite significant things (I'm mainly thinking of a time I went through a couple of years ago.) Yeah, I have maybe gained some things through it, but I lost a LOAD of confidence through the experience (although that's returning), and I'm very aware that I need to trust God more - good tips or prayers would be greatfully received.

Here's a random quote!
To be drawn to someone is to want to get to know them better. In any relationship there is risk involved – can I trust this person? As we get to know them better we make that decision but generally after having risked a small something to trust them with.

Georgian Silver - yeah, I'm born again.

Adam's rib - thanks; encouraging.

I do trust God - He's way more trustworthy than I am myself - I want to be better at it though

I personally believe it is through the study of God's Word that we come to know Him better and thereby trusting in Him more.
In those times of difficulty, we all face, i retire to my home office, turn on some Signature Sound music and allow myself to clear those thoughts from my mind by focusing on what god has done and will do.
our Prayers are with you.

Maybe you should just do what I do, just give yourself to God, once you have done that, that means you trust him uncondicionally. Let him manage your life, follow your dreams and at the same time accept the results of his precautions and his wisdom.

Sometimes bad things happen for good things to come. And he knows more than you what is good for you.

Also, do not be too hard on yourself, nobody is now perfect. And do not tie your happiness to the good or bad luck of others even if they are related to you, because everyone is an individual, in God's eyes.

I am assuming you are a 'born again' Christian and baptised in the water and the Spirit.....in which case you should be relying in everything on guidance by God from the Holy Spirit.
So the "As we get to know them better we make that decision" I am hoping that the we is The Holy Spirit and I...not the royal 'we'.
If you are not a 'Spirit filled' Christian then please take the right steps to become that way or your life will be very 'up and down'
Best wishes, Mike.

This gets brought up once in a while and I welcome the chance to respond to it.

The answer is actually an old truth that has been clouded by years of things like politics, the attempt at morality, the attempt to 'make oneself better for God, as if God needs you to 'make yourself' anything.

So how do I trust God more?
Through His word.

What did God promise? In order to answer that question you have to know what He said. If you know what He said, you know what to claim.

So from the Bible I can find a promise that God gave and tell Him about it. Abraham knew what God said to him:
Genesis 17
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

So when he was ordered to take his son Isaac to be sacrificed, he trusted God to provide a substitute:
". . . I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you." ( Genesis 22:5)

So you too can pick a promise that has to do with you. Tell God about it and remember what it is often.

It's an old truth. And it is too bad that it is not often remembered.

God presented the present of existence, Jesus gave us the certainty, yet we'd desire to grant the religion. Matthew 6:30: If it extremely is how God outfits the grass of the sector, it extremely is right here right this moment and the following day is thrown into the fire, will he no longer plenty greater costume you, O you of little faith? Matthew 8:26: He spoke back, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he have been given up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it replaced into thoroughly calm. Matthew 17:20: He spoke back, "for the reason which you have so little faith. I permit you comprehend the certainty, in case you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you may say to this mountain, 'flow from right here to there' and it will flow. no longer something would be impossible for you." There are dozens of comparable teachings interior the gospel. Jesus expects us to summon up some faith. He remonstrates with people who refuse to offer faith, and he praises people who, now and back all of surprising, demonstrate faith. faith isn't something God miraculously instills in us without our conscious action. we'd desire to respond to his presents and to his provides you with faith. Cheers, Bruce

Hi, I have been born again for 6 years now, and I went through something awful last year that has tested my trust in God.....I recently did a 'freedom in christ' course which encouraged us to FORGIVE GOD for whatever.....it sounds bizarre but I did it....nobody suggested that God needs our forgiveness for Himself, but forgiveness is more for our own sake isn't it, we need to let go so we don't get bitter.
'Father God, I choose now to forgive you for (insert) which made me feel (insert feelings). I thank you that I am forgiven and that your grace is sufficient. I reclaim any ground that the enemy has made in my life through my unforgiveness. Amen.

As you learn to trust in yourself less, you will learn to trust in God more. Like the song says "More of You and less of me"

When you pray, you are talking to God. When you study His word, He is talking to you. Build on it from there. God bless.

You have been brainwashed and you are now stunted. Growth can be realized through understanding other people and having compassion for humanity.

You cannot have a relationship with something that does not exist.

If you hve to ask the question it conveys the suspicion that you are not sure whether a god exists or not.
Try not believing, it`s a better way to live with free thought.
Start again, read the bibles, and see what your conclusion is.
