Take the contact out and rinse it again with saline solution. It's also possible that you have the contact inside-out. Often, it's hard to tell which way they go. They'll fit either way, but will be uncomfortable if they're in backwards. Another trick I do if they're uncomfortable is once it's already in my eye, I put my finger on the contact on my eye, as if to remove it, then I gently move the contact off the pupil. Take your finger off, blick a few times, and then the contact should move back onto the pupil. Sometimes if there are small specs of dust, that will be enough to get them off. Your pupil is much more sensitve to dust than the whites of your eye. Dust in the white part washes to the corner and will come out on your tears. Good luck!

Once you blink your contact should center. If you have really sensitive eyes, it could just be you're noticing the contact.

Take it out, clean it thoroughly, check for rips or tears, rinse our your eye with some Visine or something and then try again.

If it still hurts, have someone else take a look at it for you.
Then again, there are some people who just CAN'T wear contacts (but normally that's because of dry eye.)

Take it out and rinse it thoroughly. You could have easily gotten an eyelash or other foreign object between the contact lens and your eye. Also, check to make sure it is not inside out. If you have the lens on your fingertip so that it looks like a bowl, look to see if there is a rim going around the outside of the lens. If you can see the rim on the outside, your lens is inside out. You will still be able to see if it is in your eye this way, however it will not stay in one place and will slide around your eye, so you need to flip it around so that the rim is facing in.

You might have some dust on your contact, so first try washing it with contact solution. You might have it inside out, when you hold it up on your finger, it should look like a bowl, the edges shouldn't be slanted out. Also, you might just have sensitive eyes, like me. I have to wear Focus Dailies (you change them everyday) because they are lighter weight, so my eyes aren't irritated. good luck!

Did no-one teach you to put them in? When I started I was told to wear them for an hour and then remove them. Next day add half an hour and so on until you can wear them comfortably. (hard lenses)

your contacts shouldnt hurt when they are in your eye. you might have the contact inside out or it might be dirty. try taking the contact out, washing it, making sure it is going in right, and try again. good luck!
