I vote for the H&R Pardner Youth, now owned by Marlin. Better than the Rossi in my opinion.

No such thing as a "good youth .410!"
I am at best an average wing shooter. I blame my lack of expertise on starting with a .410 single-shot.
With that piddling little half ounce shot load and the pellets in a long string, the .410 is a tool for experts, not for beginners.
Do your kid a favor and get either a 28 gauge or 20 gauge H&R shotgun for their starting gun.

None. A 410 isn't a good choice for youngsters, despite popular opinion. If you're convinced a 20 guage is too much for the youngster, then a much better choice than the 410 is a 28 guage. Which one is going to depend to a degree on the game hunted. I'm old enough that my children are all bigger (and smarter!) than me, but I still lust for the CZ Bobwhite http://www.cz-usa.com and it or something similar can be worked by a good stock man to fit nicely.

Depends on what you mean by best?
A single shot Rossi is great for a begining youth. Inexpensive, safe, tough and easy to learn. Don't have to worry about scratching it up because it's inexpensive.

a cheap nef, h&r, or rossi single shot is best because they are inexpensive and reliable and most people ,who continue to hunt, want to upgrade to a larger gauge shotgun with more capacity later.
