My honest thought is that I don't need to sell this stuff. I would like to give it away to someone or some organization that needs it. My kitchen table is in great shape, but my fiance prefers hers for example. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can donate this stuff. The last thing I want to do is trash all of this stuff.

Check out a website called freecycle.org and see if there's one in your area.

I have given away a lot of things that were in good condition but not worth selling using the Freecycle network. A non-profit organization answered one of my ads and I gave them some furniture and household items. There's a 'links' page where you might be able to find organizations accepting donations nearby.
The beauty of it is, these folks have to come to you and pick up the items. And, I was given receipts to claim my donation on my income tax return.

The Salvation Army is a great place to donate stuff, as everything they are given is put to good use. For people who have no money, are on welfare, are escaping a very bad relationship, the Salvation Army will give it to them and even deliver it for free. And they also sell to those who have a bit of money but can't afford to go to the real stores... the prices are quite decent.

You can also call a school that is a less fortunate are in your city and offer it to them. Often, schools are looking for furniture to place in rooms for the students to use, the library, the teacher's lounge, etc.

If, on the other hand, you just want to get rid of it real fast, call 1-800-got-junk. They'll take it off your hands and put it to good use. Here's a link: http://www.1800gotjunk.com/us_en/homepage.aspx

Oh... and congratulations on the engagement! May your love last forever and a day!

By the way,

Battered Women Shelters, Homeless Shelters, Big Brothers, Big Sisters. They could all use furniture. Salvation Army and Good Will will sell the furniture for a profit. To tell you the truth, I have put many household items including a dining room set on the street corner with a free sign, within minutes they were picked up, that way I feel that people who really could use it are getting it. It makes me smile to think I helped them out.

I use Freecycle.org and the "free" section of craigslist.com

I like the fact that I am giving my unwanted good stuff directly to people who will use it. However, you do not get teh tax deductionas with the Salvation Army.

You may also want to look into your local hospitals hospice program. They usually have a shop that is completely run by volunteers (Goodwill ans SA pay their people) and the only thing they pay for is rent on their shop, every other penny goes to help families in crisis. I tend to shop at these.

The Red Cross or The Salvation Army are good ones. Or maybe one of your local churches, battered women's shelter, or rescue mission may be interested. All these organizations help people. I'm sure they could find someone who needs furniture.

Look up charities in Google search engine;
There is always GoodWill Salvation Army
AmVets;
There are a lot of places begging for furniture, and will even pick it up
You can always put a sign in your window "Free Furniture" too.

How about seeing if there is anyone in your family or your fiance's family who could use anything. Then I would donate to a local salvation army, or good will. You could even have a yard sale. Just something to think about.
