It just occured to me whilst viewing the Q's and A's in the religion and spirituality category. Has anyone else noticed this?

Spike - good point. Does the accusation of ignorance imply ignorance in the accuser?

PBS - you rail against correct use of grammar as being relevant. But your own use of it is of a good standard compared to most on here, and the robustness of your argument is strengthened as a result.
The causes of the woes of our planet are complex, those whose use of grammar is inept do not have a monopoly on ignorance.

Yes, maybe they should read more than one book, and spend more time studying and less time killing abortion doctors.

And who cares about Grammar? Are not those "Grammatically correct" the ones destroying the planet?.

If you are Grammatically correct, and get a job, say in New York, or even have your own company, and I have a ranch with cattle, horses, pigs, chicken, etc. You will eat fast food while I get fresh meat and eggs, You sweat your feet while I enjoy walking bearfooted on the dirt. Then I will take some of my animals and trade them for other things, all I need to know is how to count or estimate the article in trading.

Furtheremore, Are we going to feed spelling bees to the hungry people in the world? Are we going to correct the unbalanced distribution of wealth and aid by writing it correctly, say at the United Nations? Where is already written? hummm... This stupid socio-economic experiment is a failure and we know it.

How can I correct the grammar in a good country music song and enjoy it at the same time. End is, don't care about the grammar if you are not trying to sell to the wealthy.

Hello,

Yes, some people who take a religious stance display what you say but they certainly do not have a monopoly on bad spelling and grammar. One can see universal ineptness quite often on these questions and answers.

Cheers,

Michael

I noticed.

I think its just one more symptom of the educational system failing. Either that, or they're ignoring what they've been taught. Its amazing how many Christians ignore things because its easier to do so than it is to actually work to find the real answers.

And that "no child left behind" crap that Bush started has got to stop. All the teachers are doing is putting kids forward without the proper education just so they don't have to deal with them anymore. Its not working the way it as intended.

i guess you've been ignoring the atheist posts...no viewpoint has a monopoly on literacy! i have noticed one curious thing, though-almost every post accusing this or that group of being ignorant contains poor spelling and/or grammar-

Spelling and grammar is generally poor on Yahoo QA. Users of all beliefs and non-beliefs appear to place little significance to the matter.

No, I don't think so. Even amongst the most educated and literate people, you can find religious people. Religion is not an excuse for ignorance.

why don't you do some statistical homework and then come back?
I did not notice anything like that.
Suppose it was true. Wouldn't it mean that there are more believing people with a lower eduaction who are willing to defend their beliefs than atheist ones? And what would that mean?

Have nice day.
