The Crest white strips are good, and were recommended by my daughter's dentist. As a negative, they only do the front 6 teeth -- which are the teeth that most people show when they smile but you may not like this. (Crest often has coupons on their website to bring the cost down.) I saw an improvement using them, but it wasn't fantastic. Products with trays work on the whole mouth.
Keep in mind that over the counter products aren't cheap when you keep buying product, and that the dentist will cost a lot more--but any of the whitening products are temporary, and results can depend on how much cola, coffee or similar staining stuff you drink/eat.
Check out your local phonebook and ask around with hairdressers/spas. My daughter found a teeth whitening salon (we live in a small city) that did a custom tray for her, sort of like an orthodontist's retainer, and sold enough heavy duty special whitening gel to last for at least 6 months, for $199. They have special pricing around prom and graduation time too. The tray will last forever if she's careful, and an additional tube of gel from them will cost about $30. Her teeth looked 100% better within 4 days. She won't need to use it again for another month or two. This salon told her that the goal is to have your teeth the same shade of white as the whites of your eyes. If you go any lighter, it looks fake.
Good luck, hope this helps!

You should read Laura Jefferson’s book "Skin Whitening At Home" ( I saw it's also available in electronic format +video: http://www.skinwhiteningathome.com ). After 8 weeks I managed to get my skin a few tones whiter and I also got rid of freckles.
The method she teaches in her book is natural, inexpensive, and is readily available in most homes. You could even find some ingredients in your own backyard. The most wonderful thing about the method she shares in her book is that it will help you whiten or lighten your skin pigmentations, freckles, age spots, acne marks, dark underarms, melasma, or your overall skin color easily and naturally without breaking your bank or producing dangerous side effects. Good Luck!

I would suggest the book "How to be more White" by I.M. White, or "Put Some Honky In Your Hips" by Iva Notgotrythym.
Listen to music like Barry Manilow or Tom Jones.
