Whatever he heard, it went against a lot of what everyone else was saying about the 'Jesus' teachings and the Christian church. It seems strange that Jesus would come back to tell Paul what he got wrong when he came the first time... I think a lot of people 2000 years ago were suffering from angst and solvent abuse.

Paul was a Christ-hating Pharisee when Christ confronted him on the road to Damascus and saved him. Like our modern Orthodox rabbis today, Paul sought to blaspheme Christ and abuse Christians every chance he got. After accepting Christ, God filled Paul with love and wisdom to understanding the Old Testament scriptures and Christs' fulfillment of these scriptures.
