If you have pain in your chest when you smoke that is very helpful in keeping you on track. You may not have that pain, but keep thinking about the pain you do suffer, the coughing in the morning, or whatever. In other words, when you think about cigarettes think about the negative. I did quit cold turkey, but that was the only choice back then. One trick I found very helpful was to make a habit of not buying or carrying cigarettes, and if somehow I did get some throwing them away. (this works with liquor too). Obviously, you need to not be bumming cigarettes either. Think about how cheap and foolish you are to do that. The thing about not buying cigarettes is that the buying is at least a little painful so that is a good place to intervene if you start back up again. Likewise if you have started again and feel disgusted that is a good time to throw them in the stove (I have a wood stove) and then if you want more you would have to buy them. You just set up a steady negative wind... Good luck! You'll be feeling a lot better in just a few months.

Smokeing is a very bad habbit I smoked for 6 years but i stoped 7 months back. What is did was I download some pictures from the internet which showed me how bad my lungs get effected by smokeing and how do people get cancer by smokeing try it Good luck!

OK, I don't know how many you smoke a day. But before you go out, empty your pack in a drawer and allow yourself 2 to 3 cigarettes for the night. When you want one, make yourself go outside. If you don't feel like finishing it, stub it out, and save it in your pack for your next smoke break. I've known many people who think they smoke 3 packs a day, but really they're letting them burn down without remembering to smoke. It's a waste of money! I bet if you're in a club with friends you're talking more than smoking. So making yourself go outside could make you realize you're not smoking as much as you think you are.
And yes, I smoke. I want to quit too. The busier I stay, the less I smoke. I can't even smoke in a car since my ashes flick on the carpet. I can't smoke while walking since it always goes out. (Danged Cali laws.) Try not to drink too much and you won't feel that urge. Good luck hon, it is hard to even scale down, but as my doctor told me, if that's as little as you smoke, you're still at an easy point to quit. *hugs*

First of all do not get drunk too much. Meet good friends. Control yourself and eat well/properly. You must make up your mind not to smoke and slowly you must stop smoking . I know you can do it. You want to quit it right. there is nothing like your strong will power. You must decide today/tonight itself.. All the best .

i smoked for 4 years and quit about 10 times. so you may not succeed on your first try. gum doesn't really help. patches are not a good idea because they can be dangerous (go see your doctor). i quit cold turkey that is I just stopped one day in December.

Go to your family Doctor and ask them to prescribe you Chantix, It does not contain nicotine, But you won't crave ciggs anymore after taking this medication for a few weeks, It work great.... Best of luck....

well, u can always quit drinking, or drink less. tell a friend to remind you not to smoke after you drunk, good luck with it.
