My goals were really vague when I went into Tae Kwon Do; I didn't know squat about martial arts-- only what I had seen in the movies. But I was fascinated by martial arts, and I wanted to learn one-- just for the sake of learning martial arts, I guess. For me, it was pretty much: "Teach me anything!" :-)

i got into it after begging my mother for it. I always as a little child wanted that discipline and grace and flexibility that i saw in movies and was always captivated by it and techniques done really lame but i did and when i started i loved it and if you ask my mom she would tell you I focus on martial arts more than alot of things and it has taught me more discipline and responsibility as a sibok (t.A) and black belt

hahahaha good question. I started when i was 4. Now i'm 13. I got into tkd because 1)i'm korean and 2)i got into A LOT of trouble in preschool. I really thought it was cool knowing how to hurt someone. But as soon as i hit 5th grade i realized it's really important to me.

i got into it for self defense, fitness, discipline, better concentration, and to help my self esteem. its done wonders for me. now i can get in front of a large group of people and just ignore them and do what i need to do. where as before i would freak and almost pass out. its helped to make me not so nervous around people i don't know.

My mother's boyfriend was taking shorin-ryu, thought it would be a good idea to get me into it when I was 13 or so - he was right :) Went on to study a bunch of other styles, miss it now, too many injuries...from work. :(
