I am getting married in June and my mum and dad are paying for the reception. We think there is around 25 tables and we want centrepieces on them. I don't want my parents paying a fortune for something that is only going to be there the duration of the party, they say it doesn't matter about the cost but it does to me. Does anyone have any ideas of where I can find cheap table posies or some lovely centrepieces that are fairly cheap. I actually saw some nice table posies in a shop this morning, only around 7 pounds each although that suddenly went up to 10 when I told her it was for my wedding!!! When I look on the internet the cheapest ones I can find are starting for about 20 pounds for a really small one, that's ridiculous!!! Anyway, I'd really appreciate your help. Many thanks.

Hi, a friend of mine got married a few weeks ago and had very small centrepieces that she made herself. Each one consisted of a small glass bowl, some stones ( the type used for the bottom of fish tanks) 1 stem which had lots of blooms on and a few small flowers around the bottom of that (all were plastic, but very real looking). It was really effective as she used the same colours to match the dresses. She also had paper butterflies which she cut herself from a template to rest on the edge of the champagne glasses on each table. This added a lovely effect. Try to make time for these sort of things if you can, it makes the day even more special when you realise that you have made the tables look so good. Have a great day and enjoy yourself, Good luck!!

You can get some styrofoam rings and put flowers all over them and set a candle in the middle. Or you could get some mirror tiles (I don't know how much they cost though) and put a candle on it with some ribbon or something. If I were you, I would definitely make my own. You might be able to find some websites that can give you more ideas. I know there are plenty of books about stuff like that... you could look in a bookstore in a wedding section.

For my daughter's wedding we bought a box of flute champagne glasses, a bunch of flowers and some silver ribbon. We filled the glasses one third full of water, put some sugar and lemon in the water so the flowers would stay fresh and then put two or three blooms in each glass. The silver ribbon we tied round the stems and then made the ends curly with scissors. The total cost was less than £20 and we had fresh flowers on every table - however it did take a good hour to get them done - luckily family who were staying with us for the wedding were prepared to muck in and help!

I didn't have table flowers, I had helium balloons! We had 33 on 11 table weights. That had cost us £110! The kids loved them! How about small potted plants? Even grow your own?? Perhaps your favourite flower or to match your bouquet? You could always give them away as presents to relatives or donate to your local hospital. Scented candles? As for that shop, you shouldn't have said the posies were needed for a wedding!!

I do not live in England or Scotland but what my girlfriend did for the center pieces was have breakaway center pieces so that each guest too a piece of the center piece home with them.

So this way you would not have to spend extra money on wedding guest favors if you were planning to do that.

Make sure the center piece is not so high or big that the guest has to move them out of the way to speak to the other people sitting at the table.

Hope this helps.

you can buy 30 round 5in mirrors on ebay for $40. Bud vases run about $1 each. then buy extra flowers from your florist of whatever else you are using and put 2-3 in each bud vase, sit them on the mirror, and light a few tealight candles around them.
