Yes--very common in USA. We like them because they are so portable--just grab and go. They are often taken to school on kid's birthdays to treat the class. They are fun to decorate for special occasions. Or, just good with jelly beans, candy corn, or chocolate chips pressed into the frosting to make them "special."

Definately! Cupcakes are great. I like to make them instead of a cake, because with cupcakes you can make a variety at a time, freeze some, and the family can enjoy some now and the rest anytime they wish. I especially like the wet bottom cupcakes (shoo-fly) and the boston creme (vanilla creme Filled). Now look what you. did. ..you made me hungry for cupcakes. Gotta go make some. Bye.

The only cupcakes I really enjoy are the ones my grandma makes--they're just plain yellow cupcakes, but the brown sugar frosting she tops them with is absolutely amazing...
