Of course, how would Islam grow if you were not allowed to befriend non-muslims and show them the straight path? I would have no social life if this were true, because I live in a completely non-religous community. But I am friends with many Atheists. EDIT: Batman you're an idiot, read my first point. How exactly did Islam grow and grow to the second largest if not largest religion in the world? Through friendship and trust and faith in Allah. You sound like your horrible to everyone who doesn't agree with you. May Allah help you.

Yes we are allowed, I have non-Muslim friends. One of my best friends is a Hindu. The Quran does not command us to not take unbeliever as friends. You took Sura (5:51) out of context. You have also taken Sura (5:80) out of context, it says that if the believer copies sinful acts that the unbeliever does then 'evil' is with them. Another failed attempt to make Islam look bad. Nice try! :D

Blessings and peace, D returns:
It is interesting to see how Muslims explain away the plain teachings of the Qur'an. Makes me think most of the Islamists on YA are terrorists trying to masquerade their global Jihad.
However, Christians have also done an excellent job of processing God's word to pamper their whims.
These things should concern you, except for the fact that God foretold it in advance, and still intercedes for them who love Him and keep His commandments: John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments.
14:16 :And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever."
There are two sites you need read. One uses a Bible code to prove who the Abomination of Desolation is who Jesus warned of. The other shows Islam is a fulfillment of Bible prophecy and their final destiny. E-mail me for the pages.
Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

One relationship we may have with Non-Muslims, to be a good neighbour of any one regardless of any religion.
To be a neighbour, has a very wide ranged description in Islam, in this way we may co relate with humans of any religion.
A Muslim man may marry a Christian or Jew woman.

Read some authentic material buddy and enhance your level
from the original books .
" Do you love your creator ? Then love your fellow creatures first "-- Mohammad.
" We have not sent thee , O Mohammad, but [as] a mercy unto ALL CREATURES."-- The Quran,[xxi, p-326]
" And my mercy encompasseth all things." The quran,[ 7:156]
" O you men, surely we have created you of a male and a female and made you tribes and families that YE MAY KNOW EACH OTHER."--The Quran,[ 49:13 ]
" Whosoever is kind to GOD'S CREATURES, Allah is kind to him."--The Quran
" Who is the most favoured of Allah ? He from whom greatest good comes to HIS CREATURES."--The Quran
" All his creatures are Allah's family for thier subsistance is from him, therefore the most beloved of Allah is the person who does greatest good to Allah's creatures."--The Quran
" Assist any person oppressed, WHETHER MUSLIM OR NON-MUSLIM."--Mohammad
" Make peace among them with justice and act equitably, surely Allah loves those who act equitably."--The Quran [49:9]
....historically also.........
"....And Islam was tolerant not simply to the Jews but also to the Christians. The Christian church in muslim Spain was given large lands and considerable revenues, christian envoys were recieved with courtesy and allowed to take away relics of christian saints and martyrs from the muslim territory. GIBBON says in his Decline and Fall [of Roman Empire], that muslim rulers even transcribed an Arabic version of the canons of the councils of Spain for the use of
BISHOPS in the Moorish kingdom. Haroon al-Rashid, the hero of the "Arabian Nights", planted in his kingdom a large number of schools, the head of these schools, his Director of Education, was a chritian named John."[ The Spirit and Struggle of Islam by Prof. T.L.Vaswani, Ganesh & Co., Madras-1921]
" He himself [the prophet] gave letters of security and protection to the JEWS and Christians in Arabia and never used any violence to them upon the account of religion."--[ An Account of The Rise And Progress of Mahometanism with the life of Mahomet- by HENRY STUBBE, M.A. of Christ Church- Oxford, From a manuscript copied by Charles Hornby of Pipe office in 1705, London,Luzac & Co. 1911,
pg- 142-143]
The critical Gibbon conclusively proves that, "...to his Christian subjects, Mohammad readily granted security of thier persons, the freedom of thier trade, the property of thier goods and the toleration of thier worship. This profitable principle of toleration was observed with more or less strictness, not only by all the immediate successors of the Prophet, but over the whole period of Arabic ascendency."--[Rise and Fall of Roman Empire- GIBBON]
