Of course it can be done but it will take some time, paperwork and research.

Question.... is your son a citizen himself? He has been in the US long enough if not and it would certainly make it far easier, faster and cheaper to get you here. A common reason that people do not become citizens is that they feel that they may lose their UK citizenship after gaining the US one. Not true. The UK does not recognize renounciations in other countries and has no problem w. one holding multiple citizenships. I know this because of my British mother.

I am no expert but I think in the process that your son will have to certify that THEY can certify that they can take care of you financially. But worry not the US is not the UK so it is a simple manner.

Medical in the US is very expensive so that is something that really does not come into play. Yes you hate flying but if worst came to worse you could go home and deal w. major issues and come back. If you have medical records in hand and prescriptions it is a low cost easy thing to handle.

I feel vaguely sad about your question. Your son could easily figure it all out, communicate with you and allay your fears. I would lay odds on the fact though that since your son visits you in the end all will be well.

I am almost sure that arrangement can be made between your son and the proper establishment. Try to give a little bit more information next time because you never know who reads your message. Medical expenses in the USA are costly, but we also have services that would be a great assistance to you.

I really do wish you the best of luck; there are states in the United States that are breath taking. Most Americans never leave out of their communnities let alone travel between states.

Good luck my love!

Where are you from? I don't see why not since you can already speak english. Thats a plus. Also, you aren't entering the work force. For the US, they would see this as a win all the way around.

If your son is a LRP (legal permanent recident) or a American citizen, he can make a petition for you. It takes a while for you to get your visa but you do fall under one of the categories of available visas trough family reunion.

Probably. I believe you fit into the Immediate Relative visa category. Read this: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=01b6194d3e88d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=4f719c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD :-)
