I lost my boy this morning. It's Sunday, so no places are open. I'm considering burying him in his favorite spot next to the house in the back yard. Is that okay to do? Are there any considerations I need to make from a health/sanitary standpoint? I'm not thinking too straight right now.

Hi Hon,
first of all I am a dog lover completely and i know how you feeling right now, i am feeling it too with a few tears as i say what i think.. I hate to see animals die.. my dog also died and i cried for weeks and people said i was crazy to cry that long for a animal , i told them to F--k off...Some people are so cruel..
Anyway that would be completely up to you what you want to do, but as for me i waited a well and paid allot of money to go to have precious my dog barred nicely, but it cost allot . If you don't have that kind of money i would take him in the back yard as you said and put him there crying of-course if you can handle it, and stay there lay down after you put him there and just lay there with him and pray pray pray put a tombstone that you can but for like 14 dollars at a store saying in memory and his name on it...there are pretty ones that i got at www.collectionsetc.com it`s cheap nothing over 20.00.I get the magazine so i think that would be the website to check out.. We all know dogs and all animals go to heaven just like infants and children.... also make a big deep hole real big so other animals cant smell and dig it up it has to be very very deep.. lay him in tears................. If you cant do it yourself ask a friend to do it for you and after it is done you can go out lay there and pray for your little boy.

I hope i could help you
Laura

I am so sorry for your loss, when our dog died a few years ago I cried for days, and even now, I get teary-eyed just thinking of her. We are lucky that we have some property out in the country and we buried her there. I know many communities do have laws about where you can bury your dog, but I would have no problem digging a very deep hole and burying my doggie wrapped in his favorite blanket and even with some toys. I would put him in a box too.

Really sorry to hear about your dog. Bury him in your yard in his favorite spot. Make sure the hole is deep enough so that a wild animal doesn't try to dig him out. Not sure where you are, but in England we have foxes that will do this. We lost our cat a few days ago , we had her over 20 years, its nice to think of her still in the garden she loved.

OMG, so sorry, my heart goes out to you. Where I live it's illegal to bury a pet in ones backyard. I however plan to do so, when the time comes. I was told that 6 ft is used to bury humans for a reason, (bacteria, animals etc.) You can actually wrap the dogs body up and take him to the vet tomorrow and have them make some arrangements for you.

Sorry for your loss. We went through this last November and it still stings.

We buried our puppy in his favorite spot in the yard under a tree. We didn't check into local law and really didn't care.

You have to check the laws in your area.. Some towns don't want animals buried in the yard.. Otherwise, it's fine to bury them in the yard.. dig deep enough that other animals aren't going to be digging things up.

I'm so sorry. We just had a puppy die 2 weeks ago. It was so awful! We didn't know what was going on even the vet said it didn't act like parvo but it was, Then my other pup. my American bull dog that I just got for free huh, got it and he ended up costing 900 $ but they saved him. Thank God. But any way it wont hurt to bury your dog you just have to worry about other animals digging him up, so make sure you put Rocks over the place you bury him . Its harder for them to smell it and dig in it , GOOD LUCK and sorry lmoe

Im so sorry for your loss - the loss of a pet is really traumatic. Depending on where you live some cities have ordinances on who to bury an animal - you might want to contact your city and inquire on the proper procedures...

I have no idea where you live. In the middle of a desert? On the Moon? Animal shelters, hospitals, and rescue work on Sundays. So do the police. It's impossible to tell you what "considerations" you need to make, given that you live in such an isolated area. So, if you bury him in his favorite spot, no one will know.

im so sorry =[. I think you should check your local laws, and bury him in his favorite spot in the yard, as a nice tribute to his memory
