Do you have any comments about getting stone flooring throughout my house, also about getiing granite coutertops. Does anyone know if there is company in Arkansas that you would suggest to buy and install from?

That sounds like a very expensive plan. Also, stone is very heavy. If your floors are wood frame over open space below, you may not be able to do it. Final drawback: what happens if you don't like stone or get tired of it? It would be very difficult to tear out.

Do you have Home Depot or Lowe's in your area? If so, that's a place to start.

You can use stone over a wood sub floor! It is not that heavy! I would not use Home Depot, they all sell the same ol' stuff and the quality is not that great.

For your counters search for fabricators in your area. Get several quotes. I live near the ports, so my pricing may be lower then yours. I recently contracted for custom made granite counters, picking the exact slabs myself, made and installed for $56 a square foot. A little pricey because I wanted high end edge work done, and they are also driving 200 miles one-way to my job.

For stone flooring traveintine is the cheapest. I bought mine wholesale for $2 a square foot, but I know you can get it retail for $3 since you are buying a lot. You can also get a few marbles in that range, but not many.

Home Depot or Lowes is a great place to start - as for stone flooring, I have stone flooring in my kitchen and I really like it but it is on cement. I would love to have granite counter tops but that is a little out of my budget. If you don't have a do it yourself center nearby, try the internet you might just find what your looking for right around the corner, good luck...
