i agree with others: depression doesn't usually make you dislike other people - it means you can't experience pleasure eg. with being around your loved ones, and as someone said - a feeling that you don't deserve them &/or happiness. Tell your loved ones that you do love them but you are struggling with an illness and need time to work on your own issues, and need extra loving and understanding from friends/ family - this is the time for you to be RECEIVING love - rather than feeling guilty about not giving - which is a part of the illness. Lots of good self help books in the shops can be inspiring....take it easy

Very difficult, cant see a light at the end of the tunnel. Probably dont want to show feelings for other people around you because with depression you think you dont deserve them. You can tell them how you feel and if they support you and you get the right help old feelings will evetually resurface.

The very fact you ask this is a sign of love to those you care for. They must realise you can't help the way you behave towards them. However the fact you turn to them is a sign of love. Don't stress yourself over this, as that won't help your depression.

Depression normally has to do with the self, not others. It's often low self-esteem that serves as the root for depression. The world actually looks incredibly powerful to those who are depressed. Sad people don't isolate themselves from the world because they hate other people. They do it because they hate their circumstances and the fact that the rest of the world seems to function without them. That's what causes the isolation.

It's very difficult. I think if you really love someone you'll take time out from them so you can love yourself first and get better and then you will be able to actively show them you love them.

Well for me personally, all i do is to keep calm and keep reasoning to myself. Continue to be nice to those around you, laugh with them and joke with them, you can also call someone up and share your secrets with them.. have a good cry and eat loads of ice cream to cheer yourself up.
For those you love and care for, just give them your warmest smile and give them the best hug. They know you care for them no matter wad you do and will understand you.
i hope this has helped =)

I don't have a problem showing my love for others and I can see only good in them. It's myself that I hate and can't stand and I guess that is something that has to be worked on.

It is so hard to show love to others when you feel so sad. Medication and therapy does help though.
