Depends on what type of Salmonella infection. I assume you mean gastoenteritis (food poisoning) caused by Salmonella. The symptoms of gastroenteritis include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, vomiting, and fever. Typically, symptoms of gastroenteritis develop within 6 to 72 hours after ingestion of the bacterium and are usually self-limiting and typically resolve within 2-7 days. In a small percentage of cases, septicemia and invasive infections of organs and tissues can occur.
If you are talking about Typhoid fever, then the symptoms include poor appetite, headaches, generalized aches and pains, fever, and lethargy that show 1-2 weeks after ingestion of the Salmonella. If untreated, symptoms will last 4-6 weeks. Someone with typhoid fever will usually have a sustained fever as high as 103 to 104 F. Chest congestion develops in many patients and abdominal pain and discomfort are common
