I have a Chihuahua pup, Cujo. He is healthy and happy, but him and his brother developed what they call, "reverse sneezing". People have told me things I can do to stop it when it happens, but I was wondering if there was something that would prevent it from happening. I just hate how it sounds and don't want him to have an irritated feeling in his sinuses.

Just to let you know, smartass....A lot of people refer their pets as their babies. There is nothing discusting about it, other than your maturity level.

I had a Chihuahua and a Beagle ( and ,yes, they were my BABIES) who both had reverse sneezing.I found that when they had a bad spell,if I gently put my fingers over their nostrils and tilted their heads back,so their nose was pointing up,that it would stop.Of course you can't hold their nostrils closed for long, but for about 30 seconds.Someone told me to try this, but I can't remember who.It worked, though! You might ask your vet about giving them an antihistamine as well,it helps sometimes. Good luck with your babies! :D

Here,I found this link for you.It tells you what to do,including my remedy!

This is really very common with this breed and you may just naturally see the reverse sneezing diminish a bit as your pup gets older. It's pretty common when they get excited and pups do get excited a lot. You sound knowledgeable and like you've talked to your vet. You might want to talk to your vet again and just make sure that your little guy's trachea is alright. Trachea problems are common also in this breed and can present much the same way as reverse sneezing. Make sure that you always walk him using a harness and not a collar and realize that being so low to the ground may make him experience reverse sneezing at times due to dust, pollen and things like that.

Good luck with your little one - they're just the greatest!!

This is a common problem in a chi. Reverse sneezing is usually the result of a collapsing trachea....sounds horrible and life threatening, but it's not commonly a cause for alarm. Take your dogs to a vet who is familiar with small breeds. S/He can make sure it is not a serious case. I have 2 chis who do it when they get over-excited....me getting home from a business trip, etc.

Bring him to a veterinary doctor.

Oh lauweh...! People around the world, even a child is getting literate to know the pure "mercy and compassion" nowadays.

In fact, there are human worst than the animal beings, in the context, with plain faith & belief alone, but continue paying & supporting the cruelty against animal beings.

Be a Vegan, and God bless you!!

People are not answering emphatically to your concern baby (pet). Yeah, I agree your conscience of compassion not putting any law discriminating higher & lower being, just because they can't talk nor complaint to the police for the violence human do against them.

First of all, if you a Vegan, the God will save your pet from being eaten by your neighbors, because no religious is safeguarding them. That's why God created you (exist in you) to safe the sentient beings, at least one !

Syabas!! I never answered exactly to your questions, but God has made you better than others. Believe me!.

I never heard of the reverse sneezing. You can call your dog your baby though. Pediddle, with what others think.
