I am now 42 and grew up in a Mormon home, My father was from Mexico and as a result he was harsh in every sense of the word. His ability to takr care of a child (me & my 2 yr. older brother). My brother wasn't abused as he was too soft. I on the other hand caught the brunt of evrything from Sexuall Abuse to Physical. I never got him into trouble with the law. My mother and he were divorced, then is where it started around 1975, I was about 10. He took me to the Xrated drive in theatres when they had them. I have often wanted to suit this place as they allowed him to take me in there. It really screwed me up growing up and into adulthood. I hated it I would cry please don't take me, no matter what he would convince them that it was okay. My sister and some of my family worked for the company, they would get called saying your dad came here again with your younger brothers.
Is there a time limit (satute of limitataions) I have three boys and broke the cycle of violence in my family

Dear Friends, Thank you for your answer's. I will look locally for some insight as to put closure in my life. I have gone to counseling for many years and spent thousands of Dollars in treatment. The company is still very much in business they have moved towards a family theatre. I will reseach the internet for any past articles in my community involving this drive in. I'm sure there has to be others like this. My boys are my world they are 19-23 and for the life of me cannot understand why in anyone in their right mind would ever do such a thing to their own children.

I grew up Mormon as well and I suffered a lot of physical abuse from my father growing up, but the worse was the sexual abuse I suffered from my older brothers. My little sister as was mollested as well, and I have a hard time believing nmy parents weren't aware. My brothers deny it to this day, and my sister and I are basically outcasts of m y family now for "causing trouble" My older brothers are also in positions of importance in the church that people with their past have no right being in. (One is in a bishopric) So you can see why I have issues with the Mormon church.

Unusual for some one from Mexico to be a mormon. They are usually catholic. Sounds like you daddy needed to be in prison for the past 32 yrs. You need to contact a lawyer regarding statue of limitations regarding this matter. As for as drive in , showing porn. Never heard of that myself, but then again, I never was much of a out door movie person to start with. My own opinion is, it is way to late to sue that outdoor theater. Instead why not face your abuser, your daddy, I have heard, people like that can be put in jail, even if it has been 32 years. He is the guilty party, not the theater.

My father was Mormon and a career military officer and an abuser, though not sexually. He liked to slam you to the floor and kick you!
Abuse does screw you up! The one person in your life you should be able to trust, even takes that away from you!
In many states the statute of limitations go far beyond those that would occur otherwise. Adult victims often prosecute their parents.
Some states have NO statute of limitations at all. Look what they are finally doing to the pedophile Catholic priests!
Isn't it strange that it is usually those who claim to be holier than everyone else, who break the codes of their own faith the most, and then go out and have the audacity to preach to others about morality!
I am happy you were able to break the cycle!

As a child I was molested and kidnapped by Capitalism. I wanted to make money. Its so easy.
Now I've got it.Hard work, long hours. Thats the
way to do it. Victims need not even try. Jessie or Al will tell you what to do.Gangs, drugs, thats the
life for you. Prison looks good on your resume when you hit the streets.

In an Internet search engine, type:
[the name of your state] statute of limitations child molestation
You should be able to learn something from one or more of the sites listed in the search's results.
(In order to successfully sue a second party,
one must first legally prove the first party guilty.)

oh my, how tragic for you. i am glad you chose to break the cycle. contact a lawyer who specializes in that area and find out what your options are. if it is not possible to prosecute, you need to move on with your life and be there for your 3 boys. maybe get some counseling to help you deal with your tragic past. God bless and good luck to you and your family.
