What if after one good year together he tells you that he is not ready, and when you tell him maybe next year at this time he tells you that he doesn't know if he'll be ready then either. On a side note, he tells you that he knows you are the best person he'll ever meet, and that he loves you and wants to be with you and is happy with the relationship? Is it wise to still stay with him?

sounds like he might be insecure about something that some guys are a "little" insecure about if you catch my drift.

If you mean marriage, you can't force the issue. Marriage is a serious commitment and it is better that he feels confident about it than he thinks he made a mistake a few years or even months afterwards and it ends in divorce, be patient.
