Think about what your asking....you want cheap and durable.....now if you want affordable and durable that's a different story. Cheap means just that, cheap parts, cheap manufacturing and those don't really match with durable. Affordable is a reputable gun that is made with good parts and manufacturing and is sold and a reasonable price. If you want something that is going to be accurate for long distance shooting then you need to get a rifle, not a carbine like the AK-47. If you think you must stay in the AK-47 style, well you could get a Dragunov. If you want accurate at long distances (figuring 100-500 yards) find something with a longer barrel than the AK-47. I put the link to a site (in the source area) that carries a Romanian Dragunov for around $800+ with scope, which is pretty affordable in my opinion. Be careful and safe when using firearms.

i seriously hope your joking... if not you belong on teh short bus. FPS arent a good way to tell how guns actually are, and anyone who knows guns will tell you otherwise about the ak-47: a clip size means nothing, because the clip is an individual part. i can find a 30 round clip for a 9mm pistol if i wanted to, and i've seen 10 round clips for ak-47s if you want to compare the ak-47 to the m-4: ak47: 300m point target accurate fires a 7.62x39 round at 2,400 ft/s is a loose fitting weapon meaning its less likely to jam but is less accurate has a bigger kick than the m-4 meaning its longer between consecutive accurate shots its cheap (which is why the terrorists use them. if it was the best rifle then thats what special operations would use, dont you think?) m-4: 500m point target accurate 5.56x45 round (which is higher on the ballistic tables by the way) at 2,900 ft/s is a tight fitting weapon meaning it can jam if its not taken care of however its A LOT more accurate has a smaller kick meaning i can get off accurate shots faster than someone with an ak47 can by the way you can attach a grenade launcher to a ak47... you really dont know anything outside of video games do you?

You didn't specify a price range, or what caliber weapon you want. Neither did you say for what purpose the weapon would be used for. My answer is going to be purely speculation, ok?
Since you mentioned an AK and the SKS, I'm assuming that you are into military assault rifles, or variants of them, in 7.62x39mm. I don't know what kind of accuracy you're looking for. A battle rifle is not a sniper rifle. In times past, if you could hit an 8" pie plate at 100 yards with an infantry rifle, it was considered fine for battle. The AK-47 is good for about 350 yards accurately. Anything beyond that, and it dwindles. It's just not made for long distance. Any variant of the AK will be similar. Michail Kalashnikov invented the rifle with loose tolerances so that it would function in just about any conditions, but when you loosen tolerances, you decrease accuracy. The M-16 has tighter tolerances, but tends to jam if dirty. It has a few hundred yards more advantage in accuracy than the AK-47, but more susceptable to down time.
A Ruger Mini-30 fires the 7.62x39 round, and has a Garand-type action. Still has looser tolerances than an AR-15, but has acceptable accuracy.
The Finnish Valmet M-76 is a 5.56mm weapon, but a Kalashnikov. It's very accurate, but a bit more pricey than your average AR-15.
The Israeli Galil is a 5.56mm weapon with very good accuracy, They are a bit pricey also. If you find a used one, they might go for a little less than an AR-15.
The FN-FAL is a good weapon in 7.62x54 ( .308 Win ) It's accurate and fairly reasonable in price. Sometimes you can find used ones in good shape for a decent price.
The Springfield M1A is worth every penny. .308 Win.
Sometimes you can find a HS-91 clone, like the CETME, which is made in Spain, if I recall. They are fairly accurate, and are inexpensive weapons. I don't know if I'd trust one in combat or not, but for an around-the-house shooter, it should be fine.
Guns are expensive. I'd save $$, and get a good rifle. How much is your life worth, ya know?

Cheap and accurate is an oxymoron, sort of like the
Hyundai which means
Hope You Understand Nothings Drivable And Inexpensive
The AK-47 was never intended to be a long range weapon
it is an assault rifle, normally close in operations, though it's effective range is 330 yards.
The SKS has an effective range of 440 yards, you can mount a scope to any of these, once properly sighted accuracy would improve.

Are you the kid who claims to have been a child soldier in Rawanda??
Its not a gun you should be playing with after supposedly seeing first hand what can be done between people with two opposing view points.
The AK47 - AK74 series fits in fine as most combat takes place at a range of 300 meters.
A cheap "durable" gun will not give the performance you claim to seek.

The US Government Marksmanship program sells surplus M1's for a pretty good price. They sell them by lottery so you have to sign up.
Check with the NRA for all of the information you needed.
