All the places I've looked says to them for 2 weeks, but not how often to go on one. I'm assuming its something that is best done every few months or so, to ensure your system is clean, instead of once in a lifetime. So, how often is it recomended to do one?

I'm not doing this to lose weight- detox diet cleanse your system, and after the first few days, you'll start to have improved concentration and stuff. I'm about to start school in two weeks, and want my mind to be as clear as possible, and my body to be as clean and healthy as possible.

Also, its not stuff to pay for. It's just completely cutting out caffiene and sugars for two weeks, drinking lots of water, and eating lots of grains, fruits, and veggies.

I read in a book that you were supposed to flush your system at least once a year.

I am not sure how accurate it is but I got it from an acupuncturist

Never.

The body elimates toxins naturally, without any special diets or devices. You don't need to "clean" your system.

Most detox diets are just diuretics or laxatives which can be harmful. I saw one "liver detox" that included 1/2 cup of olive oil to be consumed over a few hours. That much olive oil supplies nearly a day's calories and four days worth of fat -- very hard on the digestive system and heart!

Follow the US or Canada food guide every day --- lots of fruit and veggies, lots of whole grain carbs, limited protein, fat and sugar.

I don't know a great amount about detox but I would suggest that it is best to really look into it with a local nutritionist. There are some methods of detox which can be harmful so be careful! What I will do, however, is ask a friend of mine who is certified in health and fitness and get back to you on this one.

never unless you have been on drugs or alcohol.
body is cleansing itself - people who say you need detox are just trying to make a living from your hard earned money (or your parents)
