Global warming - there is a big proyect running?

Hi world! I am German, living in Cancun and I started something really good and big. I even put some videos in youtube. Sorry, the most videos are in German and Spanish and not professional, because I made them alone. But together we could change many things. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/cancunhans In Mexico I already received good critics and many people join my project: On 9th of september at 9 pm everybody has to switch off the lights for 9 minutes and then the people will ask: "Why" This exactly is the moment when the news, tv, radio have to talk about it and then we can respond and inform the people about everything. And for sure the until now closed doors of the rich people and politicians can be opened to start to talk about saving our sick planet. The tecnology like solar panels, electric cars already exist. We only have to modify things. I agree, it will cost a lot of money, but this investments wil even create more jobs. There are no excuses. We can do it - together

Thanks for your anwers! Great that there are more people with heart and brain. The idea of course is 9 pm local time, so maybe at 10 you could see something in the news. Anyway, I think it is not a bad idea and nobodie dies for swiching of some minutes the lights. Its logic, that hospitals or traffic lights are not included for example. Important is to act for changing for something good. Instead spending money for rockets to the mars etc, they could use this billions of dollars for something more important, right? There are so many things we really could do if we want. By the way, I am just preparing another video for youtube. In two days max. you can see it. I will anounce it here in yahoo. Thanks everybody and never give up. The life of our planet is in our hands. Remember that. Our children will thank us.

Global Warming MEANS "World Wide Warming!" It is ONLY A Political Term = NOT based in Real Science!

The EARTH is covered by "Three Quarters WATER!" Basic Science, it takes ONE-Btu to raise One Cubic Centimeter ONE Degree Centigrade!

HOW many "Gazillion Cubic Centimeters are there ONLY on the Surface of Planet Earth COVERED by 3/4 Water?"

HOW many Btu's would it take TO RAISE THE SURFACE TEMPERATURE ONE DEGREE?

DO THE MATH!

And, were are the Million TEMPERATURE MEASURING SITES on the Many Oceans THAT TELL US THAT THE OCEAN TEMPERATURES ARE RISING? Not!

Oh yes, POLAR temperatures have varied LESS Than one degree in the past 100-Years. Noticed I said VARIED, = NOT RISEN!

Unfortunately Hans what you propose actually interferes with the building of a political consensus to do what is necessary to deal with the problem of global Warming.

What you propose is merely designed to get attention. It does not give people the information that they need to solve the problem.

Already people are being bombarded with attention getting devices on the subject of Global Warming.

When people are bombarded with a number of attention getting devices they respond by failing to pay attention to any of them. People also are sent off in a number of conflicting directions with little or no positive results.

We are already seeing that occurring.

We must build a political consensus to raise the taxes and increase the fees necessary to provide the financial resources that we will need to solve the problem of Global Warming.

All of these side attention getting devices, such as the one that you propose actually increase the resistance of people to the messages that they need to help develop the political consensus that we need to raise the financial resources that we need to solve the problem of Global Warming.

You know I have been saying that 4 billion people can make an enormous difference to carbon emissions just by turning off a few lights. I support your proyect entirely and I agree we can do it together.

Keep spreading the word. 9th day 9th month at 9 pm for 9 minutes. Of course, there will be time zone issues so I suppose you mean we stick to local time. Thanks. I'm in.

absolutely.....it's indeed a gud idea...atleast someone is taking initiative & i do appreciate it....being an environmental engineer myself i know lot many hard facts related but really does'nt know how to put it to actions...doing mere research & getting published in journals won't do in this hour...we also need to put it 2 actions....so all d best for your venture..v r with u:_)....
