Yes..it's only going to be 698 miles...you know how long is our border with Mexico? 1,952 miles... yeah that REALLY is going to help. We don't need fence..people will just go around it. They demonstrated this on one of Penn and Tellers BS shows, which showed how easy it is to break through one of these barriers. Took the guys only like 10 to 20 seconds to get over it or through it with simple tools. Unless they build a super duper great wall, people will get around it. Technology and more personal will be more efficient, IMHO.

Yes, there is.
You only see it in the downtown areas, as it was originally designed to keep cattle from grazing within the city limits. Yes, this is true!
Once you leave the urban areas, there is no fence at all in some places. Usually, all you see are obelisk-shaped monuments. They are shaped like miniature Washington Monuments, and they are about six feet tall and are painted silver. They have the U.S. coat of arms on one side and the Mexican on the other. They are very old.
In between these there may be a cattle fence erected by local ranchers, but no fence put up by the government.
I hope you find this interesting.

There is a small one that doesn't go all the way through. We can't actually build a fence dividing our border with Mexico. Some of the land is on Native American land, and we sign a treaty to let that part of our border stay open. It's causing alot of problems because the Mexicans know this and now using that route more often.

Under construction 50 miles at a time. There are 180 miles complete with a bill in the Senate for up to 1000 miles of fence and double the border patrol agents. Better times ahead for Americans.

Yes....a very flimsy usually unguarded fence. I guess the theory was let the Illegal Alien try to cross such a hostile environment. It didn't work.
Here's the kind of fence we need. Cost---$8B-$18B US Dollars for a 2000 Mile Fence. A drop in the bucket compared to the $80B+ Legal US Citizens pay each year for Illegal Aliens Health Care, Education.....

No, no, and no! I live in El Paso, and it is a joke. Do not listen to the lies you hear on television. Not far from my house, you can walk straight into the country.
Also, they put up a regular torn up weak gray community fence. Can you believe that? It even gets worse. There is a chain that locks the gate but the gap is large enough for a fat man. As you drive up and down Paisano street, Mexico is on one side and El Paso is on the other. Illegals are working up and down the streets hitchhiking rides.
When you see the hype on television and them putting up fences, it is in areas where illegals do not cross. I work with a guy who has gone back and forth to Mexico about 27 times. He tells me that I simply walk in and out.
At one point, the INS an agent tells illegals to come on over. IT'S A JOKE; A REALLY BIG JOKE!!
