My 6 month female is on heat & I am currently keeping her outside while my 13 month is kept inside. I know females give out a scent to attrack males but what I want to know is, if males give out a scent to attrack the girls?

my female dog that is on heat can not get out of the cage she is in & nor can any male dog get in, if that was the case she would already have been mated.

I just want to know if male dogs give a scent out while the girl is in heat.

You shouldn't leave your in heat female outside.. Dogs are sneaky, and a dog is likely trying right now to get into your backyard to your female.. Dogs can smell in heat females up to 3 miles away!

I don't think so sense a male can smell a female in heat and theres no need for a male to give off a scent too!! but your female will go looking for a male! And any males around will come looking for her !!!You shouldn't keep a dog in heat outside ! Thats the dog you should keep inside for sure !!!! If theres a way I mean any way, a male dog will get to her ,even through a fence!!!!!! If there's a WILL there's a WAY !!

It's a bad idea to leave your dog outside in heat. You will be surprised how many males can dig under or climb fences. The bad part is, if she gets out and is not yet ready to breed, male dogs will chase her all over the country...same thing as she is past breeding, (no longer breedable but still has the scent.) There are about 2 weeks of that before and 2 weeks after the time period that she will breed.

Males don't have to put out a scent to attract the females, but the females will surely pick up their scent from territorial markings. Either keep your female inside, or keep her on a good strong kennel. They will do whatever it takes to get to the male while they're in heat. And the males will do whatever it takes to get to the females. Whatever else you do, do NOT trust her to stay at home untied. Even if you tie her, you'll have to keep a close watch out for visiting males.

I believe so, because everything is based on scent with animals. You should get both of your dogs spayed/neutered because then they will not go into heat and will not give birth to other animals who will, statistically, not find happy homes. Your animals will also be more comfortable together once they are fixed.

nope the males just wait til a female is inheat and if they smell it they will try anything to get a leg up.
Keep her inside seperated from any unaltered males.
