That talks about putting God first and then your husband/wife.

Edit:

Wow, I HAVE to answer Elton, not the original questioner. You're a Christian? WHAT are you talking about! What does the question of the scripture that say put God first have to do with God not stopping wars and such? The two have NOTHING to do with each other! If you have a beef with God then so be it, but don't let it get to you so bad that you become a blithering idiot!

Looking back over your "answer"--or whatever your effort was--I see that you are basically lamenting the fact that the Bible tells YOU to worship God and not the other way around. If only God would worship you then He would carry out your wishes. Poor Elton.

The scriptures state that one must love God first, and all are secondary. However, one must realize that the Bible was written by man; not by God. Most scriptures were written hundreds of years after the text the authors were writing about. Therefore, their personal beliefs and those of their friends were incorporated into this book.

Personally, I will accept putting God first in my mind and prayers, but the God I pray to does not stop war or help my family. My faith is strong, but my faith has not stopped shootings on the streets or the deaths of those I love.

"Thou shalt not put any other god before Me"
"Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, your soul and your might"
These are commandments. There are versus but I can't remember the chapter and verse.
However, the Bible also states that if married, you will not be able to put God as a priority as you would if you never marry. That is the reason that single people have an advantage, they can spend more time with God. Love the Bible. I am dyslexiac and cannot remember the chapters and exact words but can remember the messages that God gives me.

Jesus told us that he who does not hate father and mother, sister and brother, husband or wife, houses or lands and even their own life in comparison to their love for Him, is not worthy of Him.

There is no Scripture that specifically says "Jesus is #1, husband is #2." The Bible is pretty clear that part of putting Jesus first in our lives is putting others' needs and wishes ahead of our own.

Jesusfirst@day answered it, but also remember the comandment " thou shall have no other God before me"
that is to let us know, that whatever or whoever we put before God, it is sin.
