The king [David] took the two sons of Rizpah, . . . and the five sons of Michal; . . . and he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the Lord. . . . And after that God was entreated for the land. (2 Sam. 21:8, 9, 14.)

And he [God] said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah, and offer him there for a burnt offering. (Gen. 22:2.)

and I won't even get into the Jesus thing....it's all so vile, inhuman, and bloody!

When is the last time you checked out gods table manners? Lots of blood and flesh. Sounds just like communion. Why are we the common people called sheep and cattle? I don't like being food.

If you read 2 Sam 1-14, without posting excerpts, you would have a fairly good understanding of why these 7 were given into the hands of the Gibeonites, at least physically speaking, the spiritual meaning of these verses is much more difficult to understand. The verses concerning Abraham are easier to understand. They are parabolic, Abraham represents God the Father, Isaac represents Christ, the burnt offering is made as an atonement for sin. This is a picture of what was required for our sins to be forgiven.

God's heart breaks when he killed the rebellios people. He gave them chance after chance to worship the only try God, and live for him but what did they do? worshiped falsue gods that cannot hear, speak or understand, as they fause gods that are nothing but a dillusion in the peoples minds and they believe a lie from satan. They went their own way continualy rebelling, so God destroyed them by handing them over to other nations as slaves. Regarding Abraham offering is son Issac as a sacrifice, the angle of the Lord stoped him. God wanted to test his faith. Abraham had plenty of faith that he was willing to sacrifice his son. As Abraham went to do this an angel stoped him. Abraham was blessed for his faith. His son Issac grew up and had a son called Jacob. So there was no human sacrifice to God except when Jesus came as a sacrifice unto God to die for the sins of the world. Jesus is the only sacrifice acceptable to God so man can be saved through his Son to thoese that trust Jesus. We should have been hung on that cross for our sins and died, but Jesus took out place instead. Jesus did not deserve to die at all. But I know if Jesus did not ocme to earth to die for us, we would all end up in hell. If there is no hell then Jesus would not have come to the earth in the first place. Jesus came to save us from sin that leads to death and hell. I know where I am going, and cannot wait. Praise God.

I'm answering your question without reading any other's answers---this is a question that has haunted me for a long time. Why does God require (in the Bible) a blood sacrifice? Why does God need this? My opinion is---He/She doesn't need this---the blood sacrifice is man made and has little to do with the One, the Almighty, the Supreme Being---How the one and only God must cringe sometimes at man's ignorance---Blessings!

*Humans* like blood sarifice, at least the humans that try to set themselves up as interpreters of "God's will".

to push off responsibility for decisions onto an imputed god serves to absolve the "followers" of guilt-feelings

it the world we live in, this increases ability - strength, maybe at the expense of "humanness" by removing compassion for the "sacrificee's"

(makes people fear anyone with a sacrifice-tool at hand)

The wages of sin is death. The life of a creature is in it's blood...The lamb was slain before the foundation of the world.
sin requires our life and God provided eternal life through the blood of the lamb Jesus Christ. It is the story of man's salvation.

I don't believe everything written in the Bible...or at least I should say, I don't believe on the validity of its interpretations.

"The wages of sin is death." God does not love human sacrifice, but death is what we all deserve for our sin.

And get your facts right. God wasn't going to let Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. It was only a test to see if Abraham was obedient.
