want to join the team of field engineers in Halliburton, Schlumberger or Baker Huges. am startin my third year in Mech. Engineering this sept, and hoping to work anywere in the world next summer as a filed engineer for one of this 3 companies or any other oil company. any ideas plz or stories from anyone?

The only tried and true engineers out there, field engineers and site engineers. Be prepared to forget everything they taught you in school. Think practical! Use your common sense. Ask. Read specs and drawings, carefully, and meticulously. Safety comes first. Don´t take risks Never stop work, unless there is a safety issue.

But, remember, engineers are the most exploited profession out there.

I was. This is not a bad way to start and three good companies to work for. It is not easy and be prepared to grow up fast.
