Ha ha! Balaam so true. I guess an aspect of faith is involved, unless you are willing to simply understand the truth for yourself. It is within us all.

in the scriptures there is a verse which one of hte apostles says that he dies "daily".

I myself have had my spirit separated from my body more times than i can remember. the enemy of God has sought to kill me more times than i know of.
So, in some instances I have DIED without even knowning it.

One time in particular, i stopped breathing and got up from bed and walked into the next room. I saw an angelic spirit being and rejected HIM. I went back to bed and was forced to breathe again and i woke up to sound of a knock at the back door. I immediately realized i had an out of body experience and possibly even a near death experience.

in that situation I didnt even know i was going to die or stop breathing, i was not scared.
Other times, I realized i was experiencing DEATH Pains and the thought of dieing cause extremes stress and Fear.

One time a spirit being appeared as I was suffering extreme biological pain in my brain as though i was have either a seizure or an anurism.
but the spirit being said it was time to go, and I replied I dont want to go, i thought he was saying it was time to go back to work, as i had layed down for a nap and to ease the muscle tensions in my back.
Death is not scary,
it happens like a person walking from one room to another.
what makes it stressful, is the foreknowledge that it is happening or the intense torture of an evil force.

I am not so much fearsome of being dead, although I would rather prefer to continue living since I am enjoying my life immensely! If I do harbor fears of death, they are more related to the causes, the route which I might be required to take in order to arrive at nonexistence: for instance, being killed without having resolved or completed my goals in life, having lost my independence and individuality through Alzheimer's disease, having succumbed to the ravages of Cancer, for instance. Unless one might die in one's sleep without awareness, pain, or anguish, dying would not be a pleasant experience. As an agnostic, I have no terror of whatever may be the reality following death, particularly if that is simply nonbeing. I would much more prefer that result than I would the afterlife envisioned by theists, either Heaven or Hell, nor would I relish the concept or reincarnation. My sister once said, "What if what happens when you die is what you believe it will be?" If that is the reality, I have imagined circumstances that are eminently appealing to me and have no relation to religiosity!

I don't think death is the problem. Once dead, you are either done or you have gone somewhere else. DIEING, now that scares the *%&^ out of me. For most of us, death will not be just a matter of falling asleep. For most of us there will be days, weeks or months of illness as our bodies shut down, and this may be quite painful - or we may need medication to supress the pain, and this medication can create a whole secondary set of symptoms. There is a story about a monk who, when meeting anyone for the first time, would say in greeting "Pray for my happy death". That is my prayer.

Nope. Death is just the beginning of life.
This world has nothing to offer me. The "things" acquired here will stay and rot and rust away, but gods love within my spirit is much greater than anything this world can offer, no matter how much it tries to condemn me for my love of Christ. The saddducees and pharasees tried it and are still trying through their lies and condemnation...but they still remain "dead" in spirit. We who are alive in Christ, hold onto the promise he gave us...life, and life abundantly and eternally. There is no "unknown factor" in Christ, he spoke all the blessings and promises to us of which we believe for he has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind...though the worldly view tries to convict and condemn us otherwise. Death to us isn't of fear, but of life to push forward of the promises and blessings he spoke.

I have a good idea of what I believe will happen when I die and that's what frightens me. I'm not so much afraid of the act of dying as I am of the effect it will have on my family and friends and what will be the next step in my soul's journey. Interesting question!

I'm not really afraid of what will happen after, but I'm more afraid of how I'll die. I just want to die peacefully, like in your sleep. So peaceful and comfortable. I wouldn't mind dying that way. But the other ways of dying can be so painful or scary. AGH~ I don't want to think about it~ but it's sad to think that everyone will die someday. *sniffle*

I welcome death. I have an undeath fetish. I am afraid of Old age however, because i fear becoming senile and forgetting my childhood. I veiw death as freedom from old age. The unknown is a fear though, but i am confident that there is another side, and ill just wing it and hope i get the good part of it.

Death is another experience the Soul goes through. Why must we term things as good or bad. I accept it as I accept birth just as I accept money and just as I accept "mistakes". We are one with God. Not below or above. Since we are one, Why are there people who see themselves as better than others and have others see themselves not as good as some. We are created equal and all experiences are equal, no good or bad, it just how we feel. Do not judge.

No, I'm not afraid to die. I'm certainly not looking forward to it, but the idea doesn't frighten me.

I wonder how you manage to be so certain that we will go on. Have you managed to collect any irrefutable evidence supporting that claim?

No, death is but the door. I would be afraid if I didn't believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Since I do believe that, then walking through death's door, means no more trials and tribulations, no more tears, no more sickness, no more death, no more evil and best of all, I will see His beautiful face, no longer separated for all eternity. Wow!
