If a guy avoids you until you initiate the friendship/relationship and then is nice to you, why is that? intimidation or what exactly?

This has nothing to do with intimidation. It has to do with nerves. Inside he is shy, when it comes to getting close to you. He has liked you all along, but didn't know how to approach you. You did the hard part for him. You broke the ice, how he can get close to you and get to know you better. Later on in the relationship, you could ask him why he waited for you to talk to him first. He will tell you the same thing I just told you. Everything is fine, try to remember he is going through this phase of growing into an adult, just the same as you are. Boy and girls go through this stage of life far different from each other.

Lol the answer to this can range from hes just shy to you up to hes a secret CIA agent who doesn't want his cover blown.
