I've come to realize that no matter what kind of person you may be, not everyone will remember you the same. In my own family, only my oldest brother and I remember our father as he really was: a generally good, but definately flawed man who tried, and sometimes failed, to do what was right. In short, he was human. Some paint an impossible picture to match what they would like for him to be, but it isn't true. Will you most likely be remembered for what you are, or what your family wishes you had been? Will your life become a legacy, or a myth?

They will all be singing " Ding dong the wicked Witch is dead ! " A very true fact as they have already told me this many times ! And I smile when they say this ! As for if I'd be a myth or legacy...a little of both !

On the eve of our family spreading the ashes of my father in the nearby mountains, this is a poignant question.

As for my father, he will be remembered as he was in his life... the good, the bad, but most of all the loving father/husband/brother/grandfather/uncle/man that he was.

As for myself, I know I am not nearly the idealistic person I would like to be, but if those who are left after me remember me at all, I hope they will at least remember that I loved my Lord, my family, and friends.

Fading away like the stars in the morning.
Losing their light in the glorious sun.
Thus will we pass from this earth and its toiling:
only remembered for what we have done.

Only remembered, only remembered,
only remembered for what we have done.
Thus will we pass from this earth and its toiling:
only remembered for what we have done.

Only the truth that in life we have spoken.
Only the seed that on earth we have sown.
These will pass onward when we are forgotten.
Only remembered for what we have done.

Only remembered, only remembered,
only remembered for what we have done.
These will pass onward when we are forgotten.
Only remembered for what we have done.

Who'll sing the anthem and who'll tell the story?
Will the line hold? Will it scatter and run?
Shall we at last be united in glory?
Only remembered for what we have done.

Only remembered, only remembered,
only remembered for what we have done.
Shall we at last be reunited in glory?
Only remembered for what we have done.

I'll be worm food so probably won't give it much thought. I've no control over the past or the future. I can only control my behavior here and now. So far I'm quite proud of myself. So what others think of me matters little.

I'll be dead and cremated. It won't matter to me what anyone thinks.
