I would say a couple months. You need to start showing that you want to help out and do your chores. However if you start doing that and then get your dog, you need to keep up with everything so they dont get rid of it!!!

You didn't show your age or what kind of dog you wanted. Most times, younger people get a pet, which is a life-long commitment to the animal and then the young person leaves and the parents are the one who has to take the responsibility of the pet.
I support you on wanting to take care of another dog, but I am not clear on how long you will be able or wanting to do this. Most dogs live for between 12 and 18 years. It is not so much different than a child and you must be able to make that commitment and apparently your parents do not think you might do this.
I'm not in any way against you and in fact applaud you for wanting to take care of an animal. I am answering you honestly and seeing the situation as your parents do. Can you make this commitment to this dog for all of his life? If you move out of your home will you take it with you? These are the questions that must be answered.

Why do you want a new dog if you already have one?
Think about this: maybe it's not about your parents not letting you get a dog, think about how unfair it would be for the dog to not be cared for. If you can't care for the dog you have now and keep up with chores, then you won't be able to get a new dog.
I say your best bet is to take some responsibility and get ahold of your chores and take care of your present dog right now so they can see that you CAN handle it.

First of all your question doesn't make much sense, and your bad grammar doesn't help. You already have a dog, can't take care of it, yet you want another one? Do you have ANY IDEA how HARD it is to take care and raise a puppy, and how time consuming it is? Do you even KNOW how to raise a puppy? The fundamentals of training, teaching your puppy to understand you and listen to you, potty train him, teaching him leash walking, behavior training, etc. What if you have a dominant dog who won't listen to you, what if you have a dog that is aggressive, what if you have a dog that chews everything in the house, what if you have a dog that barks way to much, what if your dog will have separation anxiety, what are you going to do? Do you Know how to take care of all that? The first months of a dog's life you'll need to be with him pretty much all the time and that's when the training is most important! Do you know how to socialize a dog? You fail to socialize a dog to all the possible things, later on you might be screwed. Socialization is between 8-12 weeks old, you miss that period and you're done for. But I'm sure you're aware of all of this right?
OH and clumsy me, I forgot to add. Did you take money in consideration? You're expecting mommy and daddy to take care of the vet bills, the food, the training. Which pretty much sums up to thousands of dollars, excluding the price of the dog! A dog is a lifetime commitment, not a toy. You need to be financially intelligent and ready for a dog. I say, for now, just get yourself a goldfish.

I don't understand your question. You say you want to convince your parents you are responsible enough to care for a dog. Yet you also say you already have a dog and can't care for it and can't keep up with your chores. Makes no sense.

Uhm... If you have one now that you haven't a clue how to take care of, and you can't do your chores.. What makes me think that you would take care of a 2nd dog? If your parents don't believe you or trust you to take care of the 2nd dog, it's cause you aren't able to take care of the first.. Use you common sense.. WHy would you even think that you could get a 2nd dog when you don't take care of the 1st one ??? Are you spoiled or something??

I would give it a year or two of consistant responsible behavior. as you said it you can't keep up with your chores or the dog already in the family so when do you really honestly think that you will have time to care for a puppy?

One second here.
You have a dog. If I was to guess, it is probably a golden retriever or some sort of family dog.
You cannot take care of that dog, and you are not able to keep up with your chores.
Yet, you think that some how you can get another dog. If I was to guess again, I would think that you want a cute little dog.
Unless you brainwash your parents, there is no way you are getting a dog.

If you cannot take care of the dog you already have, and keep up with chores...how will you do it with 2 dogs (even if it is your own dog...it will still be more work and time consuming)...better wait until you can mangage your time more effectively

honey, you need to start by helping with the family dog, and doing your chores.
If you cant even do that, why do you think mom will let you get another dog??? Dogs are alot of work. You need to take care of yourself, and help with any current pets before considering adding another dog to the mix.
